These photos were taken exactly three years and -70 pounds apart.
There was a lot of hard work that went into the after. Not just to lose the weight, but to become comfortable with the “new me”. Sometimes it’s hard to “see” the new you during the process. That’s why it’s important to take pictures. Like I said once before mirrors lie, but a picture is worth a thousand words.
It’s very hard to see the changes looking in the mirror. There are days I still see the “old” me.
Often we think shedding the pounds and working out will give us that “perfect” body. That’s not likely to happen. For some it can, but we really have to learn to embrace what we were given. In the picture on the right you can see some of my “lumps and bumps and loose skin”. I could still lose more weight, but they would remain. They, along with many stretch marks, are there from carrying three incredibly wonderful children. They will remain, no matter how much I work out. The only way to remove that is with surgical intervention. That’s not something I’m planning to seek out.
One of my favorite parts of losing the weight was/is buying new clothes. I had neglected my appearance for a long time. I didn’t want to but “fat” clothes. I hardly ever dressed up. I didn’t really go anywhere so I didn’t need nice clothes and when I did try to shop it’s was horrible. Now I sometimes go overboard with buying new things, but I’m also redeveloping my “style”.
To do that I started following some style blogs of women over fifty, Fifty not Frumpy.com (now Susan after 60.com) chic over 50.com, and 50 is not old.com are my favorites. I have taken something from each one to help me redefine and redevelop myself. I absolutely refuse to be frumpy anymore!
This is also why I have decided to delve into a couple of business ventures. I am teaming up to sell Plunder Design Jewelry and leggings with Legging Army.
I love jewelry and when I discovered plunder I knew it was for me. Being a southern girl, there’s not a day that goes by I don’t use the word plunder multiple times. And well one of my grand littles, Miss Quinn, has always carried a plunder bag where ever she goes! It was a no brainer for me!
And who doesn’t love leggings? For years I wore them because they stretched and black can hide a multitude of stuff (or so we think)…now I have discovered some really cute patterns. I’m not always bold and flashy and they aren’t all “my thing” but these are the softest, cutest things ever!
Soon I’ll be posting my websites for both companies so you can go and check them out!
I’m the meantime, I would love for you to share the blog and Facebook site. The more readers and followers the better!
Until the next time
