Do you have a goal?

During my session with my trainer, Jeff, Saturday morning we talked about goals. More specifically my goals, or lack there of lately. I told him that I had begun realizing one reason for the “funk” I’ve been in is possibly because I really haven’t had any goals to speak of for quite some time.

For more than two years it seemed I had lived with goals, for everything; my first was to lose weight, then to run that first half marathon, to continue running, then to run The King Crab Challenge that included and ended with a marathon, and then on to run last years five half marathons in five weeks. And that was really over four weekends, not even a full month. The first one was on April 23rd and the last on May 20th. Since then I haven’t had any real goal to work towards. I think I am much more motivated when I have a goal in front of me; a goal race, or in last years case an endurance goal. It keeps me going.

I have not been able to get myself to commit to a running goal this year. Because I don’t have a carrot dangling in front of me I don’t have much motivation to run. Why haven’t I committed ? I’ve been there, done that, got the t-shirt? What else is there left to do? I’m still not sure. We talked about my goal being to try to get faster, maybe, or attempting a racing/running in different states.

One race I’ve had my eye on, is the dopey challenge in Walt Disney World. This is a four-day endurance challenge; a 5k, 10k, half and full marathons; that’s a total of 48.6 miles! Crazy? Maybe. My daughter, DIL, and I had considered it for 2018 but then nothings been said about it for a while. After talking with Jeff I decided I was going to do it, with our without them. I would have more than enough time to train for it and get ready. Well, I got home logged in to look at the sign-up, and in less than two weeks it’s sold out…..so that won’t be happening in January 2018. Now maybe it went so fast this year because it’s the 5th anniversary for this craziness, so I’ll have to reassess and look at that for another year. The half and full marathons are still open, so there is the option for doing one or both of those; I’m considering that. And being a Florida native, I’ve always planned to run at least one race in Florida. It is a must do for me. But in the meantime back to the drawing board….

The more I thought and pondered about it though I realized I do have some goals. Just new goals of a different variety. They just aren’t weight loss and fitness related at the moment. Although losing weight isn’t a factor, I have a goal to maintain the weight I lost. It’s not lost, it’s gone, I have no intention of ever finding again!

I had a goal to start a blog. I’ve done that. I have started my Plunder and Legging businesses; I have a goal to grow them and make them successful. So these are goals, just different.

I will continue to work to grow the blog and my businesses. When you comment and share the blog posts with your friends you are helping me to do just that.

My goal and intention with the blog is to reach and encourage as many people as I can. I want to encourage others with their weight loss, fitness, and even fashion goals. I hope that sharing my journey does just that.

I will continue to work on finding a fitness goal for this year.
