Why Direct Sales

Why not

July was a crazy month! A good crazy, but crazy nonetheless. The weather was the hottest I can remember for such a long stretch. I hit some new milestones with my weight lifting (more to come). It was busy with Plunder and the Christmas in July specials along with the sign up incentive; then I decided it was time to get on board and sign up with Rodan + Fields. Somedays I wasn’t sure if I was coming, going, or meeting myself in the middle! But it is all good!

Since I have been telling people about my businesses and promoting them; I have had a couple of people ask recently “Why have you gone into direct sales” or started with a particular company? “Aren’t these things just a scheme”? Maybe some are. I’m sure there are still some sketchy organizations out there. The companies I am involved with are not. But why? Well, why not?

These types of businesses have been around forever; for example the first two that come to mind are Avon and Mary Kay and no one bats an eyelash about purchasing from them. Yes, these are the same types of companies and there’s nothing wrong with them, whether you are a customer or a consultant/business owner.

For those who don’t know my story; I left my last job, of eight years, almost six years ago to take care of my new grandson; baby Noah. That was scary. It was not an easy decision on many fronts and very easy in others. I not only gave up a paycheck (which is never easy whether you “need” it or not). I also gave up grown-up socialization and interaction. I often think of myself as an introvert, but I’m not sure that is completely accurate. I need to be with people at times.

That little boy I left that job for (it was a good move) has now started school full-time. And his sister who came along two years later is on her way. More littles have come along since, for me to take care of, and in another five or six years they too will be “off to school”. I will no longer have that purpose. BUT I will be older than I am now, approaching 60!!!! After essentially raising a second family, Do I want to go out and look for another job? Work for someone else after all that time? NO!!! On top of that “The Man” will approaching “retirement” age (heaven help me, maybe I should rethink this, lol). So now seemed the perfect time to start working for me. I have time to work and grow my businesses so that when I no longer have the littles to take care I will not be starting from scratch! If I want to pack up and go somewhere, I can work from anywhere there is internet. I can choose to work when I want from where I want. I won’t need to work on someone else’s time schedule. I won’t need to put in a request and get “permission” to take a few days off!

Now when I started out my first train of thought was to get the products I purchased and use at the best price possible. I knew about the business opportunity of course but that wasn’t my first thought. As time went by it just made sense. Maybe you are on the fence? If so, I’d say go for it! If you purchase and use the product you really don’t have anything to lose.

I am building my businesses with three companies.

Legging Army, which I haven’t mentioned in a few months (it’s summer and while folks are still buying leggings my brain hasn’t been able to wrap my head around that in this heat). We have come out with a new line of maxi skirts, that I will be showing you here soon. In the meantime you can go to the website and click shop, then skirts and shorts to see them. Last night there was a new restock, so you’ll need to hurry to get the best selection! It’s crazy how fast they fly off the shelves!

Plunder, has been such a blessing. I have met and made some new friends and Plunder sisters that I hope to meet in person soon. The sisterhood of Plunder is like no other I’ve ever seen. For those who don’t know, Plunder is a Christian based company, woman owned and debt free. You can go to the website, click on “our story” and read about our founder Hillary and the company. I think the story will inspire you. I feel I was lead to to Plunder for a reason. I’m not completely sure why, but I know there is a reason; beyond jewelry, beyond the business.

Rodan+Fields, has a sisterhood that’s right up there with Plunder. I am looking forward to making new friends there too! I’ve told you about Lash Boost which is what drew my interest to R+F but the skin care is bar none the best I’ve tried, and I’ve been using skin care products for quite a while!

This is a lot to take on, in a short period of time, but like I said; I have time to work and grow and set myself up for the next chapter/season of my life.

If you’ve been thinking of going into business for yourself, getting the best possible price for products you love, or just having a bit of a hobby, and think one of these companies would be a good fit for you; email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com. If you want to know more about the Rodan+Fields business you can join me on a FREE zoom call tonight at 9pm EST. Zoom is a free app that you can put on your device then just dial in at 9pm with the number 736 578 7052 and hit “join a meeting”. You can just listen in or ask any questions you may have!

This bracelet was part of the April Plunder Posse. I think it came at the right time for me! That’s what I’m doing! If you don’t know, the Plunder Posse is a subscription much like Ipsy, Glam Box, Graze, and such. For $25 per month (tax and shipping included) you receive 1-3 pieces of jewelry. There are no minimums, you can cancel and restart any time. If you have any questions, email or message me.

My BoHo Attempt

The past couple of weeks have been crazy hot here. Maybe it was the same where you are too. Last Saturday after doing some shopping at a big box store (you should have seen the fridge before, it was like Mother Hubbard's cupboard) we came home and just vegged, hoping to stay cool. Ok "The Man" slept, I just sat around and vegged. I earned it, lol. I had a very intense workout, with Jeff that morning, which I'll be telling you about in another post.

After "The Man" woke up we decided to go out for dinner at the last-minute. Well it was that or not eat; just because we went to the store doesn't mean I was planning to cook….😂😂. I really wanted to go to Artscape (that is an annual local art festival that always seems to coincide with the hottest weekend of the year). We didn't make it there. It was "The Mans" Saturday to work and at 5:30 that morning it was 84 degrees, walking around outside was not on his list of fun things to do.

So dinner it was, but where to? That is almost always a challenge question.

"The Man" has been on a Tater Tot (of all things) kick recently, much to my dismay….they are ok now and then, but I find them extremely salty. Well, Jeff (I think he's a bad influence, after all I never knew about Duck Donuts until Jeff told me about them, and for those who may be new to the blog, Jeff is my personal trainer) recently told me about and has posted all over social media about tater tots at a Japanese restaurant in the city called Sticky Rice. Apparently they are the best things ever! Now I still haven't made the connection between tater tots and Japanese cuisine, but ok. If it works….Well, "The Man" suggested we go there. Had he finally lost it? He does not eat Japanese food, he doesn't remotely eat anything that resembles Japanese food. So what was he going to eat other than tater tots? Nothing. I looked at the menu online, it would have been a stretch to modify anything to where he would eat it. I just couldn't….maybe we can go there, just because, some day but not for a meal…..I don't see that being an enjoyable date….Do you know what I mean?

Since that didn't work out we went to The Iron Rooster. I've told you about them before. We've only been there for breakfast and they serve that all day, so we could get that or try something new. "The Man" had breakfast and I got dinner. I ordered shrimp and biscuits.

I said biscuits, but it's really only one biscuit. They are HUGE! This may not look like a lot, but I couldn't finish it all (and I ate some shrimp before I took the picture). However, there wasn't enough left to bring home either.

I decided to "experiment" with an outfit and attempt a BoHo look. It was a very casual, hangout and enjoy the evening outfit. Except for the color, I thought it would be coolish should we decide to venture to Artscape too.

No make up, except for some lip color. It has really been too hot the past few weeks. I feel like even the lightest makeup will be sliding off. I imagine you girls know what I mean.

Since the Lululemon tank was black and the pants were black with a tan print, I added a bit of color with my Plunder Jewelry. The earrings are called Judy. They are part of the filigree collection and are only $8.00! There is something for everyone in the filigree collection and they are so light weight! The short, bar necklace is called Jefra; it comes with whatever initial you would like. I like that it is gold-colored. Yellow gold has always been my go to, but I am getting out of my box there. The long necklace is called Avery. The size of the pendant and coral/orangish beads say BoHo to me. They remind me of the "love beads" from yesteryear. Who remembers those? I looked at it for a while before getting it. I was worried about the length. I could have shortened it a bit more. The bracelets are the magnetic bling bracelets; Ezra which has black stones and Kayson which is peach stones. The larger bead bracelet that is in the middle of them is from the Julius set that was a special last month.

I don't think the look or outfit was awful, but I'm not sure it was totally me or that I was over successful with my attempt either. What do you think?

I bought the pants two years ago, at Target, but have only wore them once or twice. I practically forgot about them until one of the 40 Plus Style Club challenges last month. The exercise was to style a pair of print pants with an asymmetrical top. I do like the pants, but I have yet to find a shoe I like with them. I'm still working on that, but I wore my nude sandals by Vince Camuto via HSN, this time, I've shown you them before. They were better than some I've tried and I could/would wear them again.

One of the comments from the "experts" in the style club was the pants are more of a BoHo style maybe even tribal, and I'm more of a classic style. As I write this raga muffin would be appropriate, lol. I still have a couple of ideas to work on with them, then I'll decide if they stay or go.

Here are the two looks I put together for the style challenge, along with a closeup of the print in the pants. Now remember the top idea was asymmetrical and both of these colors worked with the pants.

I'm still learning the art of self photography…..stay with me, this may be a long lesson!

I had a aha moment, that day, and decided to try heels for the challenge. I don't hate them, but I don't love them either. I think they look better with these tops than sandals or flats would. These are also much higher than I would wear if I were going to be walking a lot. I did successfully (according to the group) make my legs look long. That's something; right? Lol!

The short top is from the That Woman line by Marlo Thomas and is available from HSN. The longer top is actually the top from the Covered Perfectly Leisure Suit. The top from the leisure suit has been so popular that Pauline has brought them out as a stand alone piece now! If you haven't tried covered perfectly yet, you need to. Remember as a Grandma to Glamma blog reader you get 20% OFF on up to two items!
Use the discount code GG20 when you check out at Covered Perfectly.
There are several styles to choose from, and the discount will apply on
up to two items. Or you may take advantage of the “Buy 2 get your 3rd FREE” special. This special applies to any combination of items store
wide, just add 3 items to your cart and the discount will be applied
automatically. Only one of the discounts will work.Start shopping!

Which look do you like best, from the style challenge? I think I like the longer Covered Perfectly top best, but that is within my comfort zone. I am trying to learn to go outside that zone and try new looks. The style club is helping with that. I am trying somethings I would have never thought of.

There's only a couple of days left in July. Plunder still has that great sign up incentive through the end of the month. If you are still thinking about joining me, now would be the time.

There aren't many businesses I know of that you can start for only $99. If you have any questions message or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com or just go to my website: www.plunderdesign.com/grandma2glamma and click on "become a stylist" to sign up.

There’s a New Game in Town

Do you follow the crowd or blaze your own trail? When something new comes to town do you rush out to see what all the fuss is about or wait?

We usually wait a bit to let the craziness die down and to hear some feedback. This is an especially good idea if food is involved! Of course, when something is new they will also put their best foot forward.

A couple of weeks ago a new donut shop opened in town. Duck Donuts.

Have you heard of them? Do you have them in your town? Have you been there?

What is Duck Donuts?

Well a donut shop, of course, lol! I bet the name gave that away, haha. But what makes them noteworthy? Are they worthy of the hype? We/I decided to find out.

We had never heard of them until they opened up a few weeks ago near one of the local malls. Jeff, my trainer (of all people), told me about them, lol! He went there the day they opened….Maybe he was thinking if he turned me on to them it would be job security, hahaha!

We didn’t set out to go there. But Sunday morning “The Man” decided he (needed) to go to the hardware store…why, who knows. We didn’t “need” anything from there. It dawned on me as we were driving over that we would by the donut shop, so why not check it out?

At Duck Donuts they make your donuts to order. That’s right you go in grab an order form and choose your poison…

They even have a sign to instruct you in how to order.

Not feeling adventurous or creative? Too many choices? They had a suggestion for you.

Need more inspiration or ideas? As if there weren’t enough choices, they a sign with some more.

All of the donuts start with the same base. There is only one “type” of donut. A fried circle of deliciousness.

This is a larger version of the mini donut machines you might find at flea markets, farmers markets, fairs, and such.

Then comes the toppings. This is where “made to order” comes in.

The donuts are made fresh and not topped until you order them. You tell them how you want it, and they make it!

Our finished product. They do look yummy, but are they? Will they live up to the hype?

I will say without a doubt these are not WW point friendly 😳! And no, I did not even try to figure it out….some days you just enjoy and FFMO; Forgive, Forget, Move, On

The Duck Donut, creed, mission statement?

Did they live up to this?

Overall they did. The place was clean, although a tad messy; which is to be expected when so busy. There was a line to the door when we arrived and still that long when we left, but it moved right along. The staff was friendly, helpful and patient with everyone. They girl topping our donuts saw my phone out and asked if I wanted to take a photo before she covered them (one might think they are used to that happening). The customers were waiting patiently, some were repeat customers others, like us, new and curious.

The price was fair, a bit more than the other popular chain with the same initials (DD) but not significantly.

But I bet you’re really wondering if the donuts were good!

Yes, they were. They were hot and scrumptious. We brought them home, which is about 8 miles away (good thing), made a couple of stops on the way, and they were still a bit warm when we arrived and ate them. I will say I found them extremely sweet, which was likely due to the toppings we chose. I am not a fan of overly sweet donuts. Even being from the south I do not care for Krispy Kreme’s because they are so sweet. I prefer the other DD shop because they aren’t as sweet, IMO. If you need to get your “sugar fix” in though, this will do it!

Will we go back?

Most likely, yes. Not often, it’s not convenient or worth it to just drive over there for a donut or two, but if we are close by for other shopping we will stop in on occasion. For a treat. I am curious to try a more plain version and see what I think.

After this little indulgence, experience, experiment? I am back on my regularly scheduled healthy eating routine.

Don’t forget about the Rodan+Fields “Christmas in July” special I told you about yesterday. It’s a great way to try Rodan+Fields or just get started! Are you ready to sign on as a consultant? Go to http://jearlingbencivenni.myrandf.biz and click on become a consultant to sign up.

Oh, and we never made it to the hardware store, lol. We found the donut shop first and “The Man” decided to head on home; even though we made those few other stops first.

Until the next time

Not Going Down Without a Fight

I started my new skin care regimen

I hope y’all had a great weekend! Last week was crazy here! Add to that the heat. It was wicked! The weekend wasn’t any better! This is the longest stretch of incessant heat I remember in a while. We get a day or two here and there but this has been couple week stretch with no break. When I woke up Saturday morning at 5:30, to go to the #saturday7amsocialclub AKA WW, it was 84 degrees out. It was really too hot to be out, last week, if you didn’t need to be. I’m not sure what, if anything, I even accomplished last week. Do you ever those weeks? The only thing we did over the weekend was grocery shopping and went out to dinner Saturday night.

This week is still hot, but the temps are back in a “normal” range.

I did survive a FULL week with the “babies” back (the first week back they were only here for three days) AND they survived too, I guess that’s something, lol! It’s the little things!

I started my new skin care routine on Friday, July 14th. Do you have a “regular” or “specific” skin care regimen that you follow? Tell us about it. Last month I told you about my “make-over” here and that I was thinking of trying “Lash Boost” from Rodan + Fields. There was such a great special and sign on incentive that I couldn’t pass it up.

Here is a selfie I took on Friday the 14th before I used the products for the first time. No make up, just “me”! Ok, I don’t “do make up” a lot, so you might see “just me” more often than not. Sometimes it’s because I “fiddle around” too much in the morning and don’t have time to put it on, lol!

This was at night. Since the product arrived that day, I was excited to get started and used them right away! After taking the “Solutions Tool” I chose the Redefine regimen to accompany my Lash Boost. You can certainly just buy Lash Boost if that is what you want. Last month there was an extra discount for purchasing a regimen and Lash Boost together. I’m about saving as much as possible, so of course I did that!

As you can see my bottom lashes are practically non-existent.

I’m not going to win any selfie awards, for sure, lol!

Below is the morning of Friday, July 21st, the end of week 1. I want to think I see some difference in my lashes but I really think it’s too soon to really tell!

This may be a little easier for comparison.

I do believe I see some firming of my skin, which is a little surprising. I thought my skin was pretty toned/firmed. I have long tried to “take care” of my skin. I have had a habit (?) of switching out products for summer and winter. It seems my skin has different needs in different seasons. Do you find that? That’s a good thing with Rodan+Fields, there are different regimens to choose from, so it will be easy to change, if I need to, and still use the same line.

Are you a current Rodan+Fields customer? If so, please share your results. Are you new to Rodan+Fields. is this the first you’ve heard of the company and line? They are not a super new company, the skin care line has been around for a few years. Rodan+Fields was developed by the same dermatologists that developed the acne line ProActiv. I know everyone has heard of that! It has only been the past few years that R+F has become a home based business.

With the results I’ve seen from others using Lash Boost, I’m confident this will work and I’m so excited to see my “new lashes” that I’m going to share the journey with you each week. Some people see results in a few weeks, but realistically it can take a couple of months.

Have you seen or heard of Rodan+Fields, but weren’t sure how to purchase or get started? There are three ways to get started.

Are you a traveler? Just last week we released these adorable travel size, TSA approved versions of R+F regimens.

You can get them free right now by ordering your favorite full-sized regimen along with an Active Hydration Serum! To sweeten the deal, since today is July 25th. let’s have a “Christmas in July” special!!!

if you sign up as a PC from now through the end of July, I will personally reimburse you your sign-up fee of $19.95! That’s right, I’ll mail you a check for your $19.95 back. So not only  will you get a product discount of 10% off all products and free shipping; you will get your sign up fee back! The only thing better than that would be to become a consultant and save 25%!

Don’t know what regimen is right for you? Just go to my website and click “take the solutions tool”. That will take you through a series of questions and recommend the regimen you need. R+F offers a 60 day money back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose! If you have any questions or need help sighing up, email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com. I’ll be happy to walk you through the process. Interested in becoming a consultant but aren’t sure if this is right for you? And it isn’t for everyone, there is a Zoom opportunity call every Wednesday night at 9pm EST (Zoom is a free app that you can download to your phone or computer) then hit “join a meeting” and put in 736 578 7052. There is no obligation and you can “hide” and remain anonymous. If you are even slightly interested in making a few extra bucks, maybe eventually quitting your current job to stay home with your littles, or just retire; hop on the call and see if this is right for you! Of course if you just want great skin care to help fight the signs of aging, you can still hop on the call or just order.

Do you have other friends who are in the direct sales business? You know Avon, Tupperware, Lipsense, etc? If so, do you support them and like/love their posts on Facebook and such? If not, please start. You can like, comment, and share (just like with the blog). You don’t have to buy a thing, it doesn’t cost a dime, and someone you know may be interested. I have many friends who sell various products, that may not be for me but you never know who may be looking for just that product. Who would you rather your other friends buy  from a stranger or a mutual friend? So please support your friends!

Do you want to be the first to know about my escapades? Just sign up for the blog email with the subscribe button at the top right side of the page or on the “pop-up”. I will not share your email with anyone else (that would be mean) you will just be the first to know when there is a new post. Thursday Simple Pleasures 7/20

It’s Thursday! What does that mean? It’s almost Friday and the weekend? Well, that too, but, it’s time for our Simple Pleasures!!

This week my simple pleasure is fresh homegrown tomatoes and tomato sandwiches.

We enjoy going to the Baltimore Farmers Market every year. It is open from April thru December. I like going the first week it opens, just because, but we don’t usually go often the first few weeks because there isn’t much produce. There are a lot of plants and such, but those plants are much better off if I leave them there, lol!

A couple of weekends ago we went and I got some great tomatoes! I ate tomato sandwiches for lunch every day the following week! They were so delicious! Such a simple thing, but oh soooooo good! Do you enjoy fresh grown tomato sandwiches? What do you put on yours? I like just a bit of mayo and a little S&P. Sometimes I’ll make a BLT but when I want a tomato sandwich, I really just want tomatoes, lol!

I don’t know about where you live but folks here in Maryland swear Maryland tomatoes are better than any other. Ironically folks from New Jersey (where “The Man” is from) will tell you the same thing! I agree and disagree with them all, lol! I have had tomatoes grown Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, New York, Canada, and South Dakota. They are all absolutely great! But I will say this, they were all “homegrown, vine ripened” tomatoes. Tomatoes bought at farm stands or farmers markets; not tomatoes bought at the grocery store, that are half green looking or pinkish. That is the key. There is nothing like a tomato picked ripe from the vine, grown in nutrient rich soil!

I usually buy from the same farmers each year, although My M.O. is to walk through the entire market when I arrive. I do this to see what is available, and the cost. I then walk back through and make my purchases based on availability and sometimes cost, but cost is not the deciding factor. The overall quality and freshness that day is. Then I make my purchases. I then often cris cross the market making my purchases so that I purchase the heaviest items on my out. We often take a wagon with us if planning on making a lot of purchases.

This photo is from five years ago. Wasn’t Noah so cute chasing down his wagon?

Noah enjoyed riding and eating our purchases!

Are you fortunate to have farmers markets? What are some of your favorite finds? What is your simple pleasure for this week?

Wednesday Weightlifting Workout

and a new athletic top

I was recently given the opportunity to review a new athletic top, courtesy of Tenáz Athletics. Tenáz means tenacious in Spanish. The mission for Tenáz Athletics is: “to inspire in women a tenacity for staying fit and healthy regardless of age, fitness level, body type, or other perceived obstacles.”

These tops are stylish, made in the USA, and great for everyone, but are designed with women of a “certain age” in mind. The mesh 3/4 sleeves are breathable, provide the right amount of coverage to allow you to feel comfortable, and look toned especially if you are dealing with loose skin or “bat wings”, but they aren’t constricting. Who needs that when working out?

I met Jacqui, the owner, through the Fierce 50 Revolution. She is a fellow powerlifter, runner, and yogi. Come to find out she is also from the town where “The Man” grew up and they went to high school together! What a small world!

I knew I was going to put this top through “the paces”. As much as I like to look stylish when working out, my clothing also has to function well for the level of activity I do, so for the past two weeks I have worn it for yoga and to my training sessions with Jeff. I have not worn it for my runs. It has been way too hot and humid and there was no way I was going to wear a black shirt, out to run, in the heat and humidity we have right now. I couldn’t even get past the thought. Honestly, Jeff even thought I had finally lost it when I wore it to the gym!

A few weeks ago I shared my new dead lift PR of 175 lbs!  Did I tell you Jeff thinks I’ll be at 200 or more by the end of the year? We shall see! Last Wednesday, Jeff decided we needed to work on speed….we started off with box squats to get warmed up. For those we used the SS Yoke Bar that I told you about here. After the week before, I never wanted to see another squat. I think we did half a million trying to perfect my form. Jeff, videoed that session, but accidentally deleted the video before sending it to me or I would have shared that with you too.

Once warmed up we proceeded to pick up the heavy stuff! Since the drill was to lift fast, we started with 115 pounds for 5 reps. We then moved up to 135 pounds for 5 reps. Finally we moved on up to the final weight of the day 155 pounds. Jeff proceeded to tell me the goal was 5 reps for 3 sets 😳 What?

Had he forgotten what happened back in May when he wanted me to lift 155 for 3 reps? I haven’t! That week started out much like last week. We worked our way up to the 155. I set up, picked it up and put it down; only to hear “what are doing”? Huh? What do you mean? I picked it up and put it down. Isn’t that what I was supposed to do? Uh, yes, but “I wanted 3”. What? “Yep”. Are you crazy? “You can do it”. I’m not so sure. “Yes, you can”. Well I proceeded to pick it up again, one, two, plus the previous one makes three. Right? At least by my math…..And I damn near hurled! OMG! I am dead serious!

I still don’t know if it was what I ate before going, the new belt (and it was the first time I used it) that wasn’t broken in so it was super stiff, or what. All I can say is it almost wasn’t pretty! Well apparently one, take a pause and add one, and then one more did not make three. Jeff, must use “new math”, lol! Jeff wanted 1, 2, 3….boom. How was I going to do that? Thinking about it made me want to hurl…but I walked it out, re grouped, stared that bar down, fussed and cussed, then gave Jeff the evil eye….and proceeded to try again. 1, 2, 3….I got it! It wasn’t easy, but I got it. So technically that week I lifted it six times. Now I realize that’s the “old math” way of counting, but….

So now he wants 155 for 5 reps times 3 sets 😳 oh boy! Could I do it? Well here is the video of the first set. One down. It was much easier than the last time, and I didn’t almost hurl….that’s something, but….Did I have two more in me?

I went for number two and nailed it! One more to go. Could I do it? I wasn’t so sure. Then what did Jeff do? Proceeds to tell me he had the video and the post ready to post on Facebook, all he had to do was hit post when I put the last one down, that, and the entire gym was waiting for me to get it! Pressure much? I think he knows me too well….

Yes, I did!!!!!! Tenacity? Maybe it was the shirt!

If this wasn’t enough for one day, we had to do something new at the end. Squats in a new torture contraption called the Smith Machine. This video was the easy part, and I look like I’m dying! At the end I had to squat and hold it until he told me to come up! Holy quads, hamstrings, and glute burn, batman!

My Tenáz top performed great through all of this. It wasn’t too tight or constricting and it didn’t ride up during my activity. They are moisture wicking, but I will say that the sleeves are too much (for me) this time of year. With it being almost 100 degrees out and my own personal summer moments, going on (ladies you know what I mean), I believe I will save it for spring and fall. Maybe it was also because the one I got is all black. They are available in white with black sleeves and contrasting stitching in teal, purple, or black, that was my first choice but they were sold out in my size.

They are available in two styles the scoop neck one that has a racer back. That is the style I chose, or a v-neck which has a regular back. I was torn, over which to get, but prefer the racer back tanks so I went with that style. It really is just a matter of preference and the amount of coverage you want.

See that spot I circled above? The logo. Jeff, said I need to wear this top every squat day, because the logo is right at my “sweet spot” where I need to place the bar for my best squats!

Our Visit to Dutch Wonderland

I’ve shared this previously, so many of you know, we celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary on July 8th, with a trip to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA, with a couple of the grand littles.

Then and Now

We were the first car in the parking lot….had it been up to “The Man” we may have been there even earlier, lol! Ok, we weren’t extremely early and at least we are able to get the “bus” parked, before the parking lot filled up!

This was the first time we had been there, but will likely not be the last. It’s designed for kids. Yes, you moms, dads, and grandparents can ride some of the rides and they are adding a new roller coaster which will be for the older kiddos or adults, but this mainly a littles friendly park!

A little bit on the history of the park

I saw the above plaque on the ground as we were leaving. I thought it a bit ironic, and cool, to learn that the park opened on May 20 (that was the date the “The Man” and I met and we went there on the date we were married). It is also (slightly) older than me, lol! With so many things and places not staying around long, it was nice to see it has stood the test of time.

Before going in we had to measure the kids to see what rides they could ride.

Yay! I’m tall enough to ride all the rides, lol!

Have a look at this cute little chapel in the middle of the park! How cute was that? And just too perfect for the day!

Of course we had to use it as a photo-op to “re-create” a wedding (my idea, lol). It was our anniversary after all! How could I pass up an opportunity like that?

Our wedding guests and “witnesses”, they sure are cute, but I’m not sure how reliable they are, lol! What do think?
Are we done yet?

“The Man” appears to be talking here, Lol! These are the types of photos he usually tries to get of me, hahaha! Is that possibly a real smile? After we left I realized we didn’t get a “kiss” photo. Somehow we never made it back there to do it…..I’m reasonably sure if the “The Man” never saw the lens side of a camera he’d be happy, lol!

Noah and Miss Quinn getting ready to ride the whip!

We found a dinosaur park! Noah has always loved dinosaurs, and knows the names of many from his books.

But to say we were shocked when Noah walked up to the Ankylosaurus and told us the name of it, is an understatement! To our knowledge this is not a species he has read about. I know his reading skills are quite advanced for a six-year-old, but that is a BIG word!

“The Man” and I took a few minutes to ourselves and rode the gondola! Can’t get to wild, you know, lol!

A corn field

The kids rode almost all of the rides they could, then we spent some time at the water park. No pictures there, lol!

But, look what I found! If you are Disney aficionado you will recognize this!

A highlight of the day. Dole Whip! Just like they have at “the mouse house” but the line was nowhere near as long! I enjoyed every bite/sip (I got the float)!

This cute tunic style dress came from Old Navy. When I picked it up I thought it was navy blue, but when I put it on to wear it the first time it looked black, then outside it was navy again. I have gone back and forth and still have no idea what color it is, lol! Maybe it’s like that dress that was going around the internet a couple of years ago, that no one knew what color it was! Remember that? It’s a great summer dress, that will also work well with leggings or jeans. In fact I had my white jeans on the day I bought it and loved the look. I can see it getting a lot of wear for a few seasons. Although you can’t see them here, since “The Man” cut my feet off (better than my head?)but they show in previous photos; I wore my white low-cut converse sneakers. My earrings are Plunder. These are called White Drop and are part of our filigree collection. We have a large variety of earrings in this collection and they are ONLY $8.00! You can click here to go to the website and check them out, while you are there look around and see what else we have to offer. If you have any questions about Plunder jewelry or how to join my team, message me or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com. The bracelet is part of the Julius set that was a special last month. It sold out really fast as most of them do. I didn’t wear a necklace as I wasn’t sure what kind of rides there were or if I would be fighting with it all day. My cross body bag is one I’ve shared with you before. It is by Sharif and purchased a few years ago from HSN. My sunnies are my prescription ones. I don’t usually wear my contacts when traveling, especially if I don’t know how late we will coming home.

We had a great time. The weather was great, not too hot, which after a week of really hot, humid conditions that was a welcome change! This is a great park to visit if you have little kids. We purchased our tickets a week in advance so we got a bit of discount and the adult price was less than $35.00. “The Man” was even less; since he turned 60 this year he got the senior rate!!!! I don’t think is too bad for a day at an amusement park that almost all littles can enjoy! Food, just like most parks, was overpriced and not the best, but edible. They also had some semblance of healthier options. If you are a camper, they also have a campground and offer cabins. Have you been to Dutch Wonderland? If so, please share your experience with us!

A Change of Schedule

I’m sure we’ll get settled into a regular routine soon

You may or may not have noticed I was missing for most of last week and didn’t have much in the way of blog posts. Life got really busy and writing was not happening, at all, lol!

Wednesday my grand little Lessa came back along with Baby Caterina AKA Baby Sunshine, I first introduced “Baby Sunshine” to you here (Noah and Miss Quinn gave her that name). When asked what they thought the new baby’s name should be, Noah said he wanted her named Sunshine. It has stuck as a nickname, at least for now.

It was a week of re-adjusting along with adjusting to a new old schedule, having a newborn to care for again, and to Lessa’s new attitude 😳, in regards to her sister, lol. She is also getting into the groove of the “terrible twos”, add baby Sunshine to her world, and that she and Miss Quinn sometimes get along like “two cats on the back fence”; let’s just say it made for some interesting times! We had a couple of “practice” runs for a few hours here and there, but it’s not the same.

If that wasn’t enough, Caterina is breastfed and had not had many bottles, since she came home for the hospital (during her stay there they bottle fed her as they were supplementing her with formula for a time and measuring the amount she ate). Moms, if you nurse your babies (and I applaud you for doing that) but you are going to work outside the home, please, please, please, start giving your babies a bottle well before going back to work. It will make their transition easier and help your caregiver too! Day one was quite a challenge, getting her to eat. By Friday she was eating much easier and close to a “normal” amount of milk. Fortunately, this wasn’t my first rodeo, with bottle feeding a breast-fed baby but, with that said, all babies are different and transition differently. So PLEASE help your babies and their caregivers; start letting dad, grandma, or even you start giving them bottles before you return to work. Set them all up for success. I can not stress that enough!

We made it through and now we are starting our first full week. I’m sure we will get settled into a regular routine soon, and things will settle down; just in time for school to start back for Noah and Miss Quinn, lol! Miss Quinn, is much more accepting of Sunshine than she was/is of Lessa though. Why, I’m not quite sure. She has never gotten over the jealousy with Lessa, so maybe it’s just that the baby isn’t able to “mess with her stuff”, yet.

Aside from that, I have had a lot going on and plenty to write and tell you about, including some product reviews, and other goings on. It looks like I better get to writing, lol! I see I may need to change my writing schedule and learn to write at night (like my friend Tania) to get it done, and probably should have seen that coming and transitioned myself before now….what do they say; hindsight is 20/20? Lol, it is true as I’m sure we all have experienced, at some point.

Rouge Post

Some days are diamonds….other days….well you know how that say goes!

I know you may have received an email that there was a new blog post, only to click the link and find nothing. I was trying to recover a post to work on when I apparently hit “publish”. When I realized what I did, I trashed it because there was only a couple of sentences. Not sure what would have been crazier!!! lol!

I am working on a new, coherent post, and will have it up before too long; maybe I will save it for tomorrow now. I guess this means I really am human….

Have a great rest of your day!

Until the next time

Happy Anniversary

37 years ago today, “The Man” and I got married. And we’re still married, lol!

The odds were probably not in our favor. Talk about a “whirlwind” romance; we met on May 20, 1980 (I was 16), I turned 17 on June 14th, and we got married July 8, 1980! Yes, just seven weeks to the day! Oh, and, “The Man” is a few years older than me…

Then July 8, 1980
If your next thought was: we “had to get married” you would be wrong. I guess you could say it was “love at first sight”. In less than a week we were talking about and making plans to get married. It could be said I wanted to “get away from home” and on some level that might be true. I do know and knew that if we had not married when we did, my mother (who had mental issues) would have done all she could have to interfere. Even after we were married and up until she passed in 2001, she periodically did whatever she could to break us up! Enough about that for now!

However….

Just a bit over a year later, on July 23rd, baby number one came along, and before we had our fifth anniversary all three had arrived.

It hasn’t always been easy! We have had hard times, good times, bad times, and fun times.  Some days I want to throttle him…..And I wouldn’t doubt he feels the same…..lol! But at the end of the day, it comes down to loving each other and being determined to work out our differences and work through the problems. As the Diamond Rio song states “we meet in the middle”.

We have been truly blessed. We have three great, reasonably well adjusted kids that are each successful in their own way, and six beautiful grand littles. I am blessed that I have been able to spend almost everyday with some of them. We have all that we need and most of what we want.

Today we are heading to Lancaster, PA to Dutch Wonderland, an amusement park, with two of the grand littles. We usually go away for the weekend on our anniversary, this is the third year in a row we haven’t. I had lofty ideas of surprising him with a trip to Hawaii for our 35th, but we got the surprise (fortunately before I had booked the trip) our youngest son finally proposed and they get married a week after our anniversary. A big trip and a wedding wasn’t possible; especially since they were originally thinking of getting married in Las Vegas. Two big trips in that time span would have been too much for sure. Then last year we had our DILs baby shower on our anniversary weekend. So I’m just putting this out there now…because if it’s on the internet it has to be true…right? We are going somewhere fabulous for 40, so no weddings, babies and such in three years, lol! Got that guys?!? Hahaha!

We have arrived! Hopefully this makes sense as I was writing on my phone, while riding.

Now July 8, 2017

Have a great weekend!

Until the next time
