TGIF! It’s the weekend! Do you have any plans? As of right now we have none! It’s “The Man’s” Saturday to work, so it will most likely be a low-key weekend. We will actually be “home alone” all weekend, there’s no telling what kind of trouble we can get into! Next weekend he wants to take the grand littles to the outlets in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for back to school shopping. That should be quite an adventure! Remember our trip to Dutch Wonderland last month in Lancaster? Miss Quinn has been saying she wants to go back. Guess what we will ride right past in route to the outlets? Yep…. They are on the same street. Who thinks that will be a fun shopping trip? Wish me luck, lol!
I’m finally getting my Style Club challenges together! Better late than never, right? Lol! I showed you one of the looks I pulled together, from the challenge, last week. I’m not going in order since I didn’t participate in all of the challenges in June.
I didn’t participate at all during July! July was all about color and with the younger littles coming back, I found it to be to be too much! The great thing is you can participate as much or as little as you want! I may go back and work through some of it on my own.
Many of the ladies in the group have had their colors done. They find out if they are cool or warm, summer, fall, winter, or spring. What colors/shades/tones are better with their coloring. It sounds interesting and scary! I haven’t and would likely find I should throw out everything I like, lol! Have you ever had yours done? If so, what did you think? Would you recommend it?
The second challenge for June was to style an all white outfit! I’ve told you before I’m the person who shouldn’t wear white on any day that ends in “Y”, lol, but I do like the nice, fresh, crisp look of white, and I do wear it.
The exercise was to start with an all white outfit and add a colorful kimono, then add a belt for further interest. I still haven’t made the leap to a kimono, yet, but I had just recently bought the Black and Gray Cascading Vest from Covered Perfectly which was, well, perfect. Another piece I hemmed and hawed about. One day I may learn. Everything I have ever purchased from Covered Perfectly has been great! I was concerned it would be too long for me. I ordered it to use as a coverup when we went to the ocean in June, you can read about that here if you haven’t already. It’s very light weight and thin and I felt it would be a perfect beach/pool coverup. It didn’t disappoint, but I wasn’t able to get any pictures!
This is the day I decided to experimenting with taking my own photos! I’m sure I’ll get better at this as time goes on. If you have any tips, pass them along, please!
Here is a collage of some of the looks.
I started with my white jeggings and a white sleeveless top that I showed you here.
Then I added my Cascading Vest. It’s such a versatile piece; that can easily be styled in a few different ways. It is perfect for helping to camouflage those jiggly, wiggly bits.
In the first picture below I just left it open.
Then I loosely tied it between my waist and hip area. This is also how I wore it at the beach for a cover-up.
I decided to add my pink Dooney & Bourke cross-body bag to for a pop of color.
My belted look. The belt is and shoes are a couple of years old. The belt is from White House Black Market and the shoes are by Italian Shoemakers and came from DSW.
Still belted, but I wanted to try a different pair of shoes. I changed to these black and white sandals from Vince Camuto. I got them from, you guessed it (if you’re a regular follower) HSN! I thought the black and white shoes might work by mirroring or bookending the black and white at the top.
I wasn’t sure I liked the look of the black and white shoes, but the ladies in the style club loved it and them, and they did achieve what I set out to do. What do you think? Which shoes do you prefer?
I tried adding a bit of color with my jewelry in addition to my bag.
I chose the pieces for the red/burgundy color to play off the pink of the bag. The necklace is a Plunder piece and is called Amari. The bracelet is a retired Plunder piece. My baroque pearl earrings (you know I have to add pearls somewhere) are several years old and part of a set, one of my kids gave me as a gift.
What do you think of this versatile Cascading Vest? I liked it so much I went back and ordered it in the Blue and Cream (which happens to be on sale right now). I’m sure it won’t last long so if you like it you better hurry over and order yours!
