Fashion Friday and Being A Little Silly

Happy Friday! Or as Noah has been saying lately Fri-Yay….where did a six-year-old get that from, lol!

Do you have plans for the weekend, yet?

It’s “The Man’s” Saturday to work so you know that usually means things will pretty much be low-key around here. Not like last weekend when I got a wild hair and called and made motel reservations in New Jersey.

Our granddaughter, Miss Mia, is having her first birthday party Sunday and I’m sure there will be a trip to that “big box store” but this week I don’t think it’s avoidable….

I can’t believe we have made it through a full week of fall and it still feels like summer. The heat index was almost 100 a couple of days ago! This won’t last much longer, I’m sure. It seems our weather is trying to make a turn toward more seasonal temps this weekend; which is fine. It’s time for everything pumpkin spice! Lol! I have been seeing it everywhere for the past few weeks. Last week “The Man” came home from work and brought me a surprise:

Yes, you are seeing that right, lol. Pumpkin flavored lip balm! He was quite pleased with himself. Now I love pumpkin spice and will actually have it off and on year round (why wait for a particular season for something you like) but I had no desire to have this. It’s the thought that counts, though, right?

This isn’t the usual Fashion Friday post (because there isn’t much in the way of fashion, lol) and last Friday was so crazy I totally missed it (that craziness is what prompted my escape to the shore). If you remember I told you about our trip to the Baltimore Harbor weekend before last and my inability to find anything I liked to wear. I had a few better days during the week but didn’t try to put anything together to share with you.

The photo below was on our way home from our outing at the harbor. This is what I put together and finally deemed acceptable to go out of the house in.

Ok, the panda head was not part of my outfit, hahaha! We had to stop at Target on the way home and “The Man” kind of dared me to try on the panda head in the Halloween section, so he could take a picture. His words were “you can put that on your blog” I don’t think he really thought I would share it (he should know better by now)! Silly man. Where has he been for the past 37 years? Since I didn’t like my hair, that day, any better than the clothes I was putting together, the panda head may have been an improvement. Hey it matches!

You have seen elements of the rest of this outfit before. These embroidered crop jeans from White House Black Market are my new favorite jeans. I have practically been living in them. The white tank is the Simple Tank from Covered Perfectly, and the sleeveless vest is new, from Chico’s outlet. I bought it during my shopping trip to the outlets in Lancaster, PA last month. The jewelry is all retired Plunder pieces.

Remember as a Grandma to Glamma blog reader you get 20% OFF on up to two items when you shop at Covered Perfectly! Use the discount code GG20 when you check out at Covered Perfectly. There are several styles to choose from, and the discount will apply on up to two items. Or you may take advantage of the “Buy 2 get your 3rd FREE” special. This special applies to any combination of items storewide, just add 3 items to your cart and the discount will be applied automatically. Only one of the discounts will work. Start shopping!

Yesterday I told you about the special Plunder sign up incentive. This is really a great deal, if you are thinking of starting your own business, looking for a hobby, want to make new friends, or maybe want to get a head start on your holiday shopping.

You will receive a total of 19 pieces of jewelry with your kit instead of the usual 9 pieces. And with Plunder there is no sales requirement or quota to meet. Email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com if you need more information. Many of our most successful Plunder stylists signed up for the kit because it was such a great deal (they called themselves “kitnappers”). They never had any thoughts of working this as business, but once they started wearing their jewelry their friends wanted it and things just took off!

Remember if you place a Plunder order through the end of September for $75 or more (excluding tax and shipping) you will receive an extra piece of vintage Plunder from me!

What I haven’t told you much about is the “Bridging the Gap” campaign I am participating in with the Fierce 50 group! A little while back the Facebook group name was changed to: Forever Fierce:The Midlife Revolution. If you haven’t joined the group yet and would like to be part of changing the perception of midlife and beyond, click on the link and join us!

The “Bridging the Gap” campaign is a collaboration of Midlife bloggers teaming up with Millennial bloggers to “Bridge the Gap” between the different generations. We are truly “Stronger Together”! I have been partnered with Lauren from the blog Bohemianbythebay. I haven’t had a chance to “meet” her yet, except through email. I hope to be able to Skype or FaceTime with her soon. You can also find her on instagram here. Go on over and check her out!

I also have a phone interview tonight with Ingrid of the blog Fit-Twist Health. She is writing a book, The Anti-Aging Secrets of Yoga. I am looking forward to speaking with her and sharing my love and experience with yoga. I enjoy sharing my love of yoga and truly believe it is a practice that anyone can do. Even with all my other “activities” yoga is my first love!

Simple Pleasure Thursday 9/28

It’s Thursday and that means It’s time for our next installment of Simple/Guilty Pleasure Thursday.

Do you have a simple or guilty pleasure to share with us this week?

If you’ve read the blog this week, can you guess mine? I’m calling mine a guilty pleasure this week, although it could be both.

Our little weekend trip to the Jersey Shore (simple pleasure) resulted in a trip to White Castle for hamburgers (guilty pleasure). Guilty, because I over do it on them. But I do plan for it too.

Let’s be honest here. That’s probably our main reason for going, to the Jersey Shore, lol!

Growing up in the south we had Krystal’s. They are basically the same kind of burger. The biggest difference between them is White Castle puts ketchup on theirs where Krystal puts mustard. I prefer to eat them straight off the grill with just the onions they are cooked with. Sadly (but probably for the best) neither one is very close to us. White Castle in NJ is roughly a three hour drive versus Krystal at around ten hours (right now the closest one I know of is in Georgia) not doable for a quick trip.

I do enjoy those little burgers. When they are steamed just right, it’s like a little bit of heaven. I think “The Man” likes White Castle better because they have crinkle cut fries! I could careless about the fries, I just go for the burgers. “The Man’s” uncle calls them belly busters, lol. They can be just bit gaseous! Yes, probably TMI….

We usually stop on the way home and get a “crave case” (that’s a box of 30) to bring back with us. This time we did not. That took a bit of will power.

I will just have to savor the moment until the next time.

Can you believe it’s already the end of the month? I have some new specials to share and some current ones that are going away.

First for the new:

A couple of you have expressed an interest in joining me in my Plunder business. From now through the end of September (which is only a couple of days away, how did that happen?) when you sign up as a Plunder Stylist  you will receive 10 extra piece of jewelry in your kit! So instead of the usual 9 you will receive 19 pieces of Plunder jewelry plus your sales tools! To sign up go to my website http://www.punderdesign.com/grandma2glamma and click on Plunder Opportunity.

If you have been on the fence now is a good time to get off! And if nothing else you could have a lot of your holiday shopping done!

And now for the old:

Remember that awesome Rodan+Fields Regimen/Hydration bundle special with the mini regimen?

It ends tonight. That mini-regimen is great for travel and is TSA approved. If you don’t travel, it’s an extra two weeks of product FREE!

If you don’t need a full regimen, but would like to try a product, I will be placing my last bulk order for September tomorrow (Friday) night at 6pm EST.

Message or email at grandma2glamma@gmail.com with your product choice and I will order it for you at PC pricing (that’s 10% off and free shipping) and get it to you!

Not sure what regimen or product is right for you? Take the solutions tool and find out. Be sure to enter your email, so I will know you tried the tool, and I will send you a micro-dermabrasion paste packet, just for trying it out.

If you are enjoying the blog and haven’t already; please take a moment to sign up for the blog email. Click on the subscribe button at the top right side of the page or on the “pop-up”. Something Old/Something New

What a week it has been weather wise. Summer is still hanging on here with both hands and it is HOT!

Has fall made it to your neck of the woods yet?

Saturday, before we left for our little getaway, that I told you about yesterday, I headed off to my usual #saturday7amsocialclub AKA Weight Watchers meeting and my session with, Jeff, my trainer. Last week I decided, after talking it over with Jeff, to cut my workouts back to once a week until after the races (which are less than four weeks away now)! Twice a week with the added yoga and the running has been way too much. I felt I was burning out fast. I think once the races are done and I can switch my long run with my extra yoga practice I can get back to a regular schedule.

Of course that means we will be hitting everything on the one day we do meet. Saturday, to finish up he had me doing weighted planks.

Have you done weighted planks yet? What was your experience like?

I have done weighted planks before, and shared that with you, but only with one weight and the most was 45lbs. Saturday Jeff decided to increase weight in increments. I started at 35lbs for 30 seconds, then 60lbs for 30 seconds, then on to 70lbs for thirty seconds! As many of you know 70lbs is the amount of weight I lost. I honestly have no idea how I walked around with that much extra weight on my body! Don’t tell Jeff, but I’m sure I had at least another 15-30 seconds in me at that weight.

Weighted plank with 70lbs

Before we left for our trip “The Man” said “you can run on the beach in the morning”. Wasn’t that nice of him? lol. I told him I was already one step ahead of him and had my running clothes packed. I was so ambitious I even put a yoga mat in the car! But I realized after we got there I left my head phones at home. My plan was to do one or the other. I was hoping to do both, but it didn’t happen.

I got up Sunday morning to run, and just as I was getting ready to head out the door, “The Man” woke up ready to go get coffee. I had talked myself into being ok without it, but tagged along. We got back and I headed for the run. By then traffic had started picking up so I didn’t go very far. The route that I knew and planned to run was pretty busy. I wasn’t very sure about going off the main roads, since I’m not that familiar with the neighborhoods so I ran out two miles out then back. I’m sure not having my headphones didn’t help either. Later we went down to the beach and I ran another mile barefoot in the sand (that counts for extra right?). I have never run on the beach or barefoot (for the sake of running) before. It was quite a different experience, one I should repeat. I ran a total of five miles in all. I think it was supposed to be my 18-20 mile week, though….yikes! This coming Sunday I have got to log as many miles as possible. I think the weather is supposed to be fall-ish, so hopefully that will make it easier to get some miles in. The next weekend will be Yoga Teacher Training and I will likely not get a run in and if I do it will be short.

That will also be the Rodan+Fields convention weekend in Vegas! I won’t be attending that live, but I have signed up for the virtual convention. I am so excited! There is going to be a new product(s) launch that I will be able to order right away!! We don’t know what it is yet, but the buzz is BIG and I can’t wait to share that with y’all! Last year at convention is when Lash Boost was introduced and you know how I love that!!

A Quick Getaway

Do you ever have a day that seems like it’s never going to end? Friday was one of those days!

Boy, by the time the littles were gone, I was done! My energy level was nill. Now maybe I was in a hurry for the day to be over and that made it worse. Why? Earlier in the day I got a wild hair and decided we should go to the Jersey Shore on Saturday (yep, no Sams club for us, lol) so I called up the little motel we stay at when we go there the 88 Motel to see if they had a vacancy. They did and I booked us a room. The 88 Motel is a small, family owned, efficiency motel that is affordable, and just a short drive, bike ride or even run to the beach.

The office/owners residence. Photo courtesy of The 88 Motel

The owners Liz and Ken live on the premises and service the motel themselves.

Beaver Creek Dam that runs next to the property

I love this view and I was very tempted to practice my yoga sequence for yoga teacher training here. I would have, but by the time we returned from the boardwalk it was getting dark and I was sure if I would have “visitors” that I wouldn’t be able to see during that two-hour practice. I don’t think that would have been overly relaxing….

The pool was still open as our weather is still VERY summer like for late September (I think change is coming soon though). I found it a bit too cool for my liking. “The Man” thought it was ok and had the kids ready to go in. By the time he had more than his toes in, he changed his mind, LOL!

The Pool and back of the owner’s residence/office
Part of our room. Noah and Miss Quinn had to be in a picture, lol

A few pictures of our room. The rooms are clean, and comfortable. Everything you need for your stay is pretty much already there. The windows even open to allow fresh air in during nice weather and there is usually a nice breeze blowing.

After I made reservations, I THEN  told “The Man” we were going to Jersey! Lol! Ok this was only semi spur of the moment. He was whining (you know how that goes) about going to Ocean City for the weekend. The problem with his ideas? He never pays attention to what’s going on. This past weekend was SunFest in Ocean City, the weekend before was bike week….you get the picture? The “no-tell motels” that still had vacancies were over $200 a night. No. Thank. You.

If you ever want a quiet getaway to the shore, ocean, beach (what ever you call it from where you are) and are going to be in the area of Pt. Pleasant, NJ; check out the 88 Motel.

To tell the truth, I’d rather drive three hours to Jersey than three hours to Ocean City.

Why?

Two words.

White Castle.

Yep. Little itty bitty hamburgers.

Now I’d rather have Krystal’s any day,  but you can only get those in the south. I’d have to drive 10+ hours to Georgia to get to the first one. So NJ and White Castle it is, lol!

It was a short overnight trip but it was good to getaway. Noah and Miss Quinn enjoyed themselves at the boardwalk.

Somehow I always manage to be the one who has to ride the “high” rides with them (I think it’s a conspiracy).

A little ice cream treat before heading back to the motel.

“The Man” thought it was funny that we were sitting over a smiley face!

I hope enjoyed a glimpse into our weekend getaway.

She Believed She Could

Here we are again. We’ve made it back to Monday! Another new week, with new, endless possibilities.

Do you dread Monday’s or do you view it as a week of new possibilities?

Monday certainly gets a bad rap from most everyone. I am guilty of being a Monday basher, myself. When I was working I had come to dread Mondays and every other day I had to go to work. I came to realize that job was sucking the life out of me. I knew this long before I left it, but I was hesitant to leave it.

Why?

Fear.

Mainly fear of losing an income. That’s never easy to do. It wasn’t a large income, but more than we would have had without it. You get used to having a certain income, maybe having a bit more disposable income, and eliminating it is scary; even when YOU make the decision to do so. What if this breaks, what if this happens, what if?

It was six years ago September 1st that I walked out that door for the last time. It was scary, from the day I made the decision, until the day I walked out the door. It was one of the best things I could have done for my peace of mind, my well-being, and the well-being of my family. But I was afraid.

On the surface it seemed my job was perfect. It was about mile from my house, I only worked three and a half days a week. I met some great people, some of whom I still have a little contact with. “The Man” thinks if I had not left when I did to take care of Noah I would still be there. He really doesn’t know how wrong he is. He thought the job was perfect.

Patients of the doctor I worked for thought it was the perfect place to work, that the doctor must be a wonderful boss. They weren’t behind the scenes. They didn’t know how things really were. My mental and physical health was suffering from it. It was far from perfect.

I’m so glad when the opportunity arose to leave I took it. I can’t say everyday since has been a bed of roses, but it was the right decision. I stepped on blind faith that it would work and it has.

Fear can hold us back from so many things. I have had some fear racked moments a few times since leaving that job; for different reasons.

When I set out to lose weight; could I do it…again? When I started practicing yoga; could I do it? The “I’m not flexible, I’m not athletic, I’m uncoordinated” thoughts ran through my mind. But I decided to try; it was a great decision. Then I decided to run a half marathon, could I do it? I wasn’t a runner, I had never run unless forced to. And I did it. Then on to a marathon, then five half marathons in five weekends.

This year began with me deciding to start the blog; would anyone read it? Then starting my businesses; will anyone buy what I sell? Will anyone want to join my team? If that wasn’t enough, a chance to become a yoga teacher presented itself. Again fear; could I do it? Could I afford to do it? Could I work it around the schedule with the kids and family time? I have set out to run a half and a full marathon. The half on Saturday and the full on Sunday; back to back.

All of these have come or come with an element of fear. But I pushed that fear aside and tried anyway. So far I have been successful. Some of these haven’t been completed yet, but I am moving towards them.

Fear? You bet! Can I do it?

I CAN!

Through it all my one mantra has been “She believed she could, so she did”! I have also added “I CAN and I WILL…watch me”.

Do you let fear hold you back? Don’t. Take charge of your life and destiny. If you dream it, you can achieve it. It doesn’t matter your age. That doesn’t mean you need to set out to achieve the same goals I have. Just reach for what you want. I am here to support and encourage you along the way. I still have fear. I am a work in progress, but I’m not allowing it to hold me back.

Take a moment and share your fears, goals, thoughts with us. What would you like to accomplish? What fear is holding you back?

Simple Pleasure Thursday 9/21

Good Morning! It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve written a Simple Pleasure Thursday post. Not because I haven’t had any simple pleasures, but life has been busy! Sometimes I just let life and day-to-day events take over. I really do try to organize and manage my time, but I am not always good at that. Sometimes I wish I were better at it, but then there are days that I really like “flying by the seat of my pants” lol! Of course, flying by the seat of my pants is why I am still learning as I go with this blogging business! I am learning how to, not only, write a few posts ahead I have been able to get the scheduler to work, so that is going to be a big help.

This week or I should say the past few weeks my simple pleasure is “The Man”. Now, yes, he drives me absolutely bonkers (especially with his Sams club fetish) most days, but he has been a big help too. So far since school has started he has been home before I need to pick up Miss Quinn from pre school and I am able to leave Lessa and Caterina aka baby Sunshine home with him when I go to pick her up. It is so much easier than having to take a five month old and an almost two-year old to pick up an almost four-year old…..what makes that even better is; I can rarely park the “bus” in front of my house or on our side of the street. We have a “not so nice” neighbor and he feels the need to park vehicles they don’t drive on the street in front of everyone’s house but his own….. And yes, it’s a public street. However, this guy will go out of his way to jockey their cars in front of other folks houses taking up 1 1/2 parking spots (because they cannot parallel park). He even goes so far as to watch for someone to leave and then goes out and moves his car into that space. Now I don’t care that I have to park across the street until I need to take a five month old and an almost two-year across a busy street (ours is a main thoroughfare through the neighborhood) to get in the car and then bring a five month old, almost two and four-year old back across the street to get home. Courtesy goes a long way. So yes, that aggravates me and it is my rant, today…..I am so thankful “The Man” has been home so far and I have not had to do that, yet. It really has been a blessing.

Since we haven’t talked simple or guilty pleasures in a few weeks, what have your simple or guilty pleasures been? With fall being on the horizon mine will like start becoming food related, lol. After all it is almost time for comfort food, sweater and boots weather! Yay!

We are in the last third of September; can you believe it? Yesterday I made my first Rodan+Fields promotion!!! I am so excited! To celebrate I have 5 mini-facials that I would like to share. If you have been curious about R+F and want to try it, message or email me and I will send  you a mini-facial. I want to remind you of the Rodan+Fields specials. The Regimen/Hydration Serum/Travel Size Regimen special is ending on the 28th. If you have been thinking you need that, go ahead and grab it this week. Those travel sized regimens are a good two weeks of product. The full regimens are two or more months worth of product. They are TSA approved size but they are also perfect to keep in your RV or your weekend lake/beach house. Message or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com with any questions or to claim a mini-facial.

Powerlifting Meet

In May I had the chance to go watch a powerlifting meet! I met my trainer, Jeff, there. He was wanting to check it out since he would be competing in his first meet in June. It was held a little over a mile from my house, but I almost didn’t make it. It was on a Saturday and “The Man” knowing I had planned to go there, just had to go to Sams….have you noticed a theme here? I swear he thinks that store isn’t open any day other than Saturday. The women were up first, which is why I wanted to go early. I did manage to get there before the women finished. I am so glad I did! I got to see two ladies in the masters division, both in a different age and weight class than I am. Both lifting significantly more weight than I do, right now, and it’s possible they always will. There is a significant weight difference between us. But it was good to see. It was good to watch and see how the meets are run, and was great to see other women around my age and older powerlifting. I know that I am not alone with my craziness…there aren’t many of us, but we are there and maybe we can encourage other women to test the waters.

They were both named Linda. There was Linda Jo and Linda.

This is Linda. Linda is 60+ years young. Her final deadlift for the meet was 280+ pounds! She hit and won the gold for her age/weight class!! She is now in training for her next meet, it will take place in October in Orlando, FL.

I was able to speak with Linda for a few minutes before I left. She is amazing. She is a grandmother of five. She runs a non-profit, and she is a pastor. Linda has only been lifting for about two years. Like me she kind of fell into powerlifting while working with a personal trainer. He noticed she was good at picking up heavy stuff and convinced her to train as a powerlifter. She has taken the gold in her division in all her meets, so far. Linda has a Facebook page where she shares her journey. Go check out her page and give it some love. She has recently started training with a new trainer. He is 70+ and still competing and has set several of his own records.

This is Linda Jo. I was not able to speak with her. I do know that she and Linda were in the same weight class and their final deadlift was the same weight, but I don’t know about age.

Linda Jo was definitely intense and intimidating. She certainly came with her “game face” on. To tell the truth she was a bit scary! Lol.

Linda and Linda Jo have different lifting stances. Linda uses a conventional stance where Linda Jo uses a sumo stance.

Either one is fine and allowed, it’s just what you’ve trained for and your preference. With the sumo stance apparently you don’t have to lift the bar up as far. I use the conventional stance. After watching this meet I tried lifting with the sumo stance and it was a bit weird, for me. Apparently, I am a conventional stance girl!

These two ladies are phenomenal. The women’s powerlifting masters division is going to be a force to be reckoned with one day. Have I convinced you to start lifting yet?

Negative Self-Talk

Here we are again; another Monday, a new week, new possibilities. How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting or stay around home a just rest? We didn’t do very much. Saturday afternoon we went to the Baltimore Harbor and walked around for a bit. The Pride of Baltimore was docked. I have never been down when she was in so it was nice to see her up close, in person.

“The Man” told me I looked like a tourist taking pictures, lol! My response was “who cares”?

If you look where I circled, you can see two people climbing up the ropes!

I have no idea what they were doing, but I know that would not be my gig!

It was nice to just go and walk around the harbor on a nice day, but I could have just as easily stayed home. Do you ever have those days where nothing seems to work? That was me Saturday. The day didn’t start out like that, but by the time I had a shower and was getting dressed, I didn’t like a thing I put on. Nothing looked good, my hair was awful (you know those “I hate my hair” days)? I decided it’s time for a radical hair change. I haven’t done it yet, so it won’t be a rash decision, but I haven’t given up on the idea, so that means it’s likely to happen!

I’ve been thinking about “Negative self-talk” a lot! Do you do it? How often? I think most people are usually pretty good at it. I know I am and I was at it all weekend. And that was AFTER the #satuday7amsocialclub AKA WW meeting where we talked a bit about it! Maybe that’s the problem, lol! That wasn’t our topic, but it’s where we “wandered” to.

One member was telling us about a race she just completed in horrible weather. She was under trained but decided to go for it anyway, she was doing it with her daughter and a friend. It took her over four hours to run a 12 mile race, she was next to last, was walking and crying the last few miles, had been moved to the sidewalk to finish, had a policeman offer to give her ride; they were rolling up the timing mat when she got there so she didn’t have an official time, but she finished. She didn’t quit. She turned her negatives into a positive. She finished what she started.

I know how she felt starting out. I know I am so under trained for these upcoming races next month, or I guess I should say for the marathon, I should be good for the half on Saturday, but I am very much doubting my ability finish the full on Sunday or within the time limit. I see me being on the sidewalk trying to finish. I am honestly counting on race day adrenaline and finding another “back of the packer” to buddy up with to keep going. I am honestly scared. This is the most I have ever been scared and doubting my ability going into a race.

Another member made it to a milestone in her weight loss journey. Our leader asked her how she felt and what advice she would give to others. She started her story with everything negative she could, she’s never made it to that point, always quit just before getting to that point because her weight loss was slowing…..not that she didn’t give up, she kept going….you get the picture. It took another member pointing out that she hadn’t said anything positive to get her there.

Maybe that’s what happened. My day didn’t start out that way, but by the time I was getting dressed, those doubts were running rampant. Do you think someone else’s negatives can cause your own? How do you turn it around?

It didn’t end with Saturday. When I was running yesterday, I was negative talking to myself the entire way. “I can’t do this, I should defer, I should downgrade to the 10K, if I can, this is crazy (that might be), once this is over I may never run again (maybe or at least not for endurance anytime soon). It has been a lot with the other stuff I am doing and I will admit I have taken on quite a bit. I knew what I was doing, talking down to myself,  but I was powerless to stop it. After missing my run last week because of spending the weekend in yoga teacher training, this week was a 15 miler. I managed 10.well one GPS said 10, one said 10.9….ah which one to go by? I was still within the time limit to not get swept, but I had to slow down my intervals sooner than I would have liked. When I looked back in my marathon training log to two years ago, for this run I made it 13.25 out of 15. I think that was the week I fell and kept going as much as I could. So a little more than I did this time, but still not the entire distance and I finished that marathon. In all honesty I could have gone more than the 10 I did yesterday, but I had talked myself into stopping. I just wasn’t feeling it. Those negative thoughts let me stop myself. Had I looked at the log from last time and thought about it, I would have pushed myself farther, I think.  At the end of the day, my goal is to finish. I’m not going for time, but would like to stay within that time limit and not get swept. I would feel much better if the full were on Saturday and the half on Sunday. For the next month I will need to be diligent with my diet, and get as much rest as possible. I started thinking (while running) maybe I should go back to once per week with Jeff, for the next month, until after the race. With the extra yoga work and studying I’m not sure twice per week is a good thing (since this was part of my talking to myself yesterday I’m not sure that is unreasonable to do or me doubting myself). I will continue to ponder on that.

Somewhere along the way I remembered this pendant from Plunder.

I CAN and I WILL…..Watch Me

It came with some bundles I bought earlier in the year. I seemed to have gotten a boat load of them! I wasn’t quite sure why I needed so many, but maybe I should hang them all over the house! I will carry it with me for the races. I do have several so if you or someone you know needs one, let me know!

“I Can AND I Will…..Watch Me”! So much more positive than “I can’t do this” don’t you think? When I was training for my first marathon my mantra was “She believed she could so she did”, my race songs were “I don’t need your rocking chair” by George Jones and “My Way” by Elvis.

I think I am adopting this saying for my race mantra now “I CAN and I WILL….Watch Me”! With a new mantra, should I come up with a new race song? Any ideas? Help me out here!! I may need that rocking chair this time, lol!!!

Are You Ready For Some Football 🏈

TGIF! Who’s ready for the weekend? Do you have plans? I’m not quite sure what everyone around here is doing. “The Man” will work this weekend and I will catch up with the #Saturday7amsocialclub and then head to the gym, and my torture (oops) training session with Jeff. As of right now the weather looks like it will be beautiful, hopefully I can keep “The Man” away from Sam’s, lol! The nice weather weekends are sure to be ending soon.

What a couple of weeks this has been! A short week last week, because of the holiday. A really long week because of other events that occurred. School for the grand littles started back uneventfully and they seem happy (for the moment) to be back in a routine. This was the first week of fully being into the new “regular” routine and the fun has started, lol!

If that wasn’t enough, I got up last Tuesday, the day after the holiday, and started getting ready to pay some bills. I logged into our checking account to find the balance was not correct….yes, our account had been hacked! It was done on “The Mans” card. No surprise there. He thinks that card is the best thing ever…..What a mess to deal with…..we spent hours dealing with it with the bank on Tuesday, then waiting for the charge to be reversed. Fortunately I was still able to take care of what needed to be paid, they didn’t wipe out the balance, but it wasn’t just a couple of dollars either! Let me tell you, it’s was a very emotional thing. The feeling of being violated. Is it going to happen again? Just wanting to go to the bank and withdraw whatever is there. If you’ve missed hearing from me much of last week, that’s why; along with getting ready for Yoga Teacher Training-YTT. I was not able to focus on writing much. I tried but nothing made much sense. This week hasn’t been much better in that department. You may have noticed I haven’t posted on my regular schedule. I have taken the time to digest and reflect from the studies of the YTT weekend. There is a lot, but I am getting my head around it and working out a plan for my homework.

Over the past couple of weekends Collegiate and Professional football has started. The world is going to be going crazy for the next few months, lol!  I’m really not a football fan, lol, but I decided to have a little fun with the start of football season.

My Florida State Seminoles played their first game the Saturday before the holiday (it was not pretty)….Most Floridians are either camp Seminoles

or camp Gators. There is FSU (Florida State) or UF (University of Florida). Occasionally you will find someone who is a Miami fan, but not often.

(BTW, I did not make a gators necklace). I borrowed the picture from one of my Plunder sisters Robyn, who happens to be a gator fan. I still like her, lol!

We have both in our family. It’s a fun rivalry! I am a gator fan (of sorts) one game a year, when they play the Georgia bulldogs, hahaha! After that it’s back to business as usual, lol! If that’s not enough living here in Baltimore I’m slap in the middle of ravens fans. Well I am a rebel and will wear my Jacksonville Jaguars shirt!

I must support the “hometown” team, even if they haven’t played great in a loooooong time, and even though I really could care less about football. BTW, they won their first game….hope they can keep that up! Are you a football fan?

A couple of weeks ago, Plunder came out with a line called Plunder Prep. You can put together a necklace to support your favorite team and sport! So I had to make up my FSU and Jaguars Plunder Prep Necklaces!! I was even nice and adapted some a bit for the ravens fans and came up with this on the fly!

Here are the current options that are available to make your own Plunder Prep necklace. You can support you local high school, college, rec council or professional team. As you can see, there are charms for several sports. More tassel colors and charms are in the works.

If you would like to support your team, get a gift for the sports fan in your life that has “everything”, or get that new college a unique gift to support their new school,  log onto my website, go to shop, select a party with my name in it, scroll to the Plunder Prep tab and design your own. For the remainder of September I am offering a free piece of Plunder Jewelry, from me, for ANY order over $75.00 (excluding tax and shipping). Message me or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com if you need help or have any questions.

Now I couldn’t leave baseball out so I made one for my Orioles too. I much prefer baseball to football! What about you?

Are you a baseball or football fan or both? What are your favorite teams? Do you go to the games or just watch from the comfort of home? If I’m going to watch football, I would rather be home. When we first moved to Maryland we went to a Jaguars/Ravens game….It was COLD!!!! I do not like  football and certainly don’t want to freeze my tush off to watch it! Baseball I don’t mind going to watch. The weather is usually much more accommodating.

Yoga Teacher Training-Week 1

Wow! What a weekend I had! Yoga Teacher Training has commenced and weekend one is complete! What an AMAZING experience (Remind me I said that in a few months)!!!

Talk about busy! How many ways can you say intense? And I’m sure it’s going to become more so. But it was all good. It is a very long weekend schedule; Friday evening 6-9:30 and Saturday and Sunday 8:30-6:30. Fortunately it is only one weekend per month. I missed the meeting of the #saturday7amsocialclub along with my session with Jeff.

The entire weekend was such a different experience than I’m used to. Since I have only practiced yoga in a gym setting I have never experienced the calm, quiet, peaceful, zen of a studio. At the gym you hear everything going on outside the studio; the weights hitting the ground, the music from the spin class next to the studio if they go over, the basketballs bouncing if the front desk doesn’t stop them from going in. No matter how hard you try to tune it out, sometimes it just doesn’t work. What a difference! The flood of emotions in just one weekend, all I can say is: WOW!

Wednesday, last week, I received the syllabus for the weekend. When I first looked at it I was completely freaking out. My brain was not in comprehension mode at all. I looked at again on Thursday and it wasn’t as bad, but as we were heading out Friday night I was still thinking “what was I thinking”, “what have I done”.  Coming home Friday night all I wanted to do was crawl into bed to be rested for Saturday, I couldn’t/didn’t even want to try to think beyond that. Coming home Saturday night I was in such a chilled, peaceful state. Then Sunday night my head was just overrun with the weekends lessons and I was energized. I think this is going to be good!

I have missed writing the blog and communicating with everyone, either here or on social media, but it was good to go inside and leave it behind too! . You may have noticed I didn’t write much last week. That was in part getting ready for the class and having to deal with some personal things that occurred early last week.  I must say it was hard not to just grab my phone and write/type put a thought as it popped into my head. But then again there weren’t many thoughts popping into my head.

I have much “homework” to do over the next month until we go back to class. Boy is that scary! I will need to sit down later today and try to digest it all. Integration back into real life yesterday was interesting. How was your weekend? I hope you were able to get in some “me-time”.

If you are a yoga practitioner and have ever thought of teaching or thought of studying to deepen your practice, I would say go for it.
