Just Breathe

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to make this year yours!

2018-A new year with 365 days of possibilities. Okay it’s the second day in so we only have 364 now, but that’s still plenty of blank pages to write in and make this a great year!

Do you choose a word for the year? Have you chosen words in the past but let it fall by the wayside? Would you like to choose one for this year? There’s still time. If you have or do,  please share with us.

I started choosing a word a few years back, but I didn’t last year. Could that be why I had a hard year? I’m not sure, but I decided to get back to it this year. As I was looking for my word two words kept showing up for me BREATHE and BRAVE. I chose BREATHE.

Why BREATHE? Last year I didn’t choose a word and started so many new things; the blog, my businesses, Yoga Teacher Training, running the half and full marathon in one weekend and powerlifting. With all that, I lost some focus (which I’ve shared with you on and off through the year). In yoga, we are taught to always go back to the breath, our pranayama (our life force). When I run and my breathing isn’t right I have a hard time. If I tell myself to go back to my breath and slow down until I am breathing right I have a much better and successful run. So the word BREATHE will remind me to slow down and refocus; whether it’s with diet, exercise, life, YTT (which is where I plan to put a lot of focus the next couple of months) or business.

I need to stay focused on the important things. Yes, these are all important, and I can focus and work on all of them but not obsess and make myself crazy trying to do too much. YTT is the most important right now. As we near the half point it is getting more intense and taking more time and energy, along with self-reflection. To finish strong and successfully I need to stay focused and breathe. I will still work my businesses but I will not stress over trying to grow them overnight. That will come with time. That is the good thing about a direct sales business (at least the ones I chose) I don’t have to meet any minimums each month. I can work at my own pace, and make the business fit my life, not my life fit the business. I lost sight of that for a bit and was burning the candle at both ends. I had to take a step back and let it go. Have you been there?

As my yoga instructor is fond of saying “you are right where you are meant to be in this moment”. Yes, I am. And when I try to go at a pace that is too much I will come back and BREATHE and refocus.

I am joining a group of friends in reading the book The Secret The Magic by Rhonda Byrne along with starting a gratitude journal. Have you read the book and if so what are your thoughts? Do you journal? I have tried (unsuccessfully) in the past. The blog is the closest I’ve come to that. But I am giving it go. We are going to read the book and journal our gratitudes together for 28 days starting on 1/8. If you would like to join us there is still time.
