Fashion Friday-A Fashion Question For You

It’s Friday! Happy Friday….Friday the 13th!! Oh boy, and in October…

Scary? Good Luck? Just another day? Are you superstitious?

I have a friend who is so superstitious he takes off work and stays in the house every Friday the 13th. Can you believe we are almost half way through October? Halloween is just around the corner.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been playing around in Targets’ Halloween section with the animal heads when we go, lol! The last time we were there I just had to try on another one. It went with my outfit after all, lol! I showed you the first one here, “The Man” all but dared me that day. I did this one all on my own.

Wasn’t it just puurrrrr-fect?

Do you dress up and “get into” Halloween? We have been dressing up with the littles as a family, with a theme the past few years. I will share that with you later this month. I’m not quite sure what we are doing this year. Noah and Miss Quinn are starting to come up with their own ideas for dressing up and they don’t usually sync up with each other never mind getting everyone in on it….

This morning I was woke up out of a good sleep, by a phone call, from “The Man”, slightly before 5am (no wonder I’m dragging)…now for starters a call when he is at work and I’m in bed, scares the bejesus out of me. I answered the phone to hear “your coffee’s on the table”. What? “With donuts”. Huh? I’m thinking to myself, why are you stopping home with coffee and donuts? You’re route isn’t near here on Friday. I didn’t voice this as my brain was still trying to process this and my heart was slowing down to normal again….all the while he was still talking away. The man of few words, cannot be quiet some times. He went on to explain that he told me was going to be home early on friday for the the next few weeks, until the beginning of November, due to some rerouting and a new route taking effect. I remember he said something about being home early. I wasn’t expecting it to be before 5am….but he did bring me coffee. That’s something, right? Oh, and donuts. I didn’t need the donuts…but did that stop me? Bahahaha!!! No.

Are you ready for the weekend? Do you have plans?

I hope my weekend is pretty uneventful. I’m meeting my Rodan+Fields friend, Kathy, for dinner tonight and I have my usual Saturday activities on the agenda; the #saturday7amsocialclub meeting and my session with Jeff, but that’s all. After last weeks full weekend with YTT and next week being the races (YIKES) staying in this weekend sounds pretty good. It’s “The Man’s” Saturday to work and after birthday parties two Sunday’s in a row, I know he is looking forward to not going anywhere Sunday. He thinks he’s going to stop working Saturdays by the end of the year…..whatever will I do? I’m not sure this will work, for me, lol….

I will do a short run Sunday morning and then start the “taper” process, in hopes to be ready for races next week. According to the scale I have already started the carb-loading process (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it)….what’s bad about that is because of YTT last week I haven’t weighed in for October yet….I will have to do that tomorrow at the meeting (unless I don’t go). That’s not a good option since I missed last week and will miss next week due to the races. So I will go, weigh in, and live with my choices. I will still be under goal, I just don’t like “seeing” that number go up even when I know why. Add to that me going out to eat tonight. I did have a bit of a plan for that, but then pumpkin spice donuts entered the house this morning and I didn’t “just say no”…..it’s life. You live it and move on.

Okay. It is Fashion Friday, after all, so let’s have a little fashion talk.

This morning I was scrolling through Facebook and one of the members of the 40+style club posted a question/dilemma.

Below is her post:

“Can we discuss dressing to be situationally appropriate? I couldn’t find any threads already started.

I live in an area that is very casual and pulling myself together with a statement necklace is enough to make me feel conspicuous. This is ok but as I start figuring out the clothing that really makes my heart happy I’m afraid I will stand out like a clown. When I travel outside of my locale I’m much more apt to be authentic.

Case and point: I have a mtg this morning at a coffee shop. I really want to wear my new lace dress with a chambray short jacket and lt grey sneakers. I won’t wear it because it would be too over the top. I’ll probably wear a lace blouse instead w jeans.

Just wondering if you girls think about this and how many of you go with your heart.❤️

My first thought was, how sad for her. And how awful to possibly need two different wardrobes. Then it brought to mind an encounter I had a few weeks ago. The area I live in is a very “blue collar”, casual type area and getting more casual with some of the younger crowd that is moving in.

I showed you the outfit in the picture below last month and I consider this to be a rather casual outfit. It can be elevated, but it would still be casual. Overall I consider my style casual, classic, occasionally romantic and a little boho. I seem to go through phases. During the week with the littles I tend to dress more casually than I do on the weekends, but I still like to look nice.

I wore this exact outfit a couple of weeks ago with the sleeveless vest and statement necklace below. The necklace is from the Plunder Fall Line and is called Dallas. It had just arrived a day or so before and I think is perfect with this top. Actually I just love it period! It’s eclectic, quirky, fun, and definitely makes a statement.

I had to take Noah to the bus, then run a few errands before heading out to pick Miss Quinn up from school. When I walked Noah to the bus stop, one of the young mothers commented that I looked nice and sure was dressed up. Really? Dressed up? I think this is pretty casual, even with the addition of the vest and necklace. What do you think? Dressed up or casual?

Does wearing something other than sweatpants with “bootylicious”  written across the rear end or pajama pants out and about constitute being “dressed up” these days? I sure hope not! There are still plenty of ladies in our neighborhood who wouldn’t dream of going out the door if every hair wasn’t in place and fresh lipstick applied. Thank goodness for them!

I admit, I don’t wear makeup every day; I never have, but I do try to dress nice and do my hair. I don’t know about you, but I feel better when, as the saying goes, “I get up, dress up, and show up”. I definitely feel different on days that I know I’m not going anywhere and may not put much effort or thought into how I dress. And yes, I have those days where I will hang in the house in sweats and such. Those are usually house cleaning days and I have never bought into dressing up to scrub the floor. I would change before going out though.

What would your advice be to the member who posted this?

I say: Wear what you want/like. Be you/do you, let them wonder why you are “dressed up” or “over the top”. Maybe others want to dress as you do yet have the same feelings. Maybe you will inspire them to be who they want to be.

I would love to hear your opinion.

Simple Pleasure Thursday 10/12

It’s Thursday! That must mean it’s time for our simple/guilty pleasures.

Do you have a simple or guilty pleasure to share this week? Mine is a bit silly, but that’s what simple pleasures are for, right?

This past week has been crazy busy as I’ve been telling you about. The Rodan+Fields convention, YTT, and now integrating back into real life, oh and let’s not forget mountains on top of mountains of homework!

My simple pleasure this week is thanks to the R+F girls!

I do believe I have mentioned at least once or twice that we have a R+F business opportunity call every month and a team call each week. Last week three ladies from our team got together and headed to Charleston, SC for a virtual convention event. Two ladies from Virginia, Tania and LeighAnn (who are practically neighbors) met Lucille from New Jersey, at an airport in North Carolina before driving on to South Carolina. They had never met her in person before.

When we had our ZOOM call Wednesday night LeighAnn was so excited! She had finally met someone shorter than her! Apparently Lucille is only 5′ tall. When I told them she had me beat (you know I’ve told you I can only claim 5′ on an eighties hair day) they couldn’t believe it! They said they thought I would be tall. I guess sitting down in front of the computer on a call makes me look tall, lol! I’m going to be meeting one of the other girls, Kathy, for dinner tomorrow night. She lives in Delaware and we are going to meet about half way. We are both excited! That’s the good thing about living in tiny states; you don’t have to travel far to get to the next one, lol. They told Kathy she would have to report back on if I really was that short.

I have decided they don’t pay attention to Facebook very much. I had posted the pictures below just a couple of weeks ago of me with a few guys from the gym. We all wore the same shirt that night, and Derrick (one of the trainers) just had to take a picture because we all matched. I’m sure they will be excited to know they made the blog as a “fashion statement”!

After we finished the call, I reposted these and tagged the girls! My post said “if I’m tall these guys must be giants”. What’s really funny is they had all liked or commented on it previously…..too funny!

So that was my simple pleasure this week. Finding out that behind the screen, at least, people think I’m tall. Maybe there’s still a chance I will grow up one day. And having fun, making friends, and bonding with ladies from all over even though we haven’t met in person.

Please share your simple or guilty pleasure for this week.

Yoga Teacher Training-Week 2

Whew, its Monday! What a busy weekend! I needed this new week to start to rest up from the weekend! It’s raining here today for the first time in a month. That should make for a slow, lazy day and boy do I need it after this weekend!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun and exciting?

This was my Yoga Teacher Training-YTT AND the Rodan+Fields convention and new product launch weekend. On top of that there was a birthday party for Lessa and Miss Quinn on Sunday (which I had to miss). Since Lessa’s birthday was really on the 2nd, we had cupcakes and such then. Miss Quinn’s birthday is actually Friday the 13th and we will have a little home celebration then too.

Lessa and Miss Quinn

How many ways can you say crazy busy?

YTT

I was sooooo worried going into YTT weekend. I felt like I was way behind with my homework and unprepared. Most of last week I was waffling back and forth between “I can do this” to “I can’t do this”, “what have I done”? I had plenty of those “I’m going to flunk out of YTT” thoughts off and on much of the week. Who flunks out of yoga teacher training? Oh I was quite a mess! I may have been worried for nothing.

When I got to class Friday night, I discovered I was not the only one with those thoughts and I was not the only one who was a bit behind. Some were much farther behind than I was. Misery loves company?

When I left class Friday night I felt much better and by the end of last night I was back to thinking “I can do this”. I came home and just “let it go”. I haven’t even looked at my books or let myself think about the mountain of homework this next month will entail. It makes last months look like nothing, and I still need to finish the few things I didn’t get done. Out of sight, out of mind? Not really, but I am taking today to process the weekend before I dive back into it. There is just sooooo much information packed into the weekend that you (or at least I) definitely need a day to assimilate before tackling the next step.

I planned to run yesterday (or at least walk) during our lunch break, but that didn’t happen. Our last lesson/practice before lunch was a meditation practice. When we were finished our instructor suggested we go out to lunch and notice how things were in the world. I had brought my lunch and am car pooling, so going off was not an easy option for me. Instead I took my lunch and went to sit outside. I was in such a peaceful, zen/meditative state that running or walking was not something I could even consider. I did not want to break that calm feeling and I knew such an activity would alter that.

Many ladies came back and said they noticed sounds being more amplified and the world seemed to be moving faster. I had the opposite experience and so did a couple of others. As I sat outside, the cars on the road seemed to be moving in slow motion and the sounds were very hushed. That is the most or deepest I have ever gone into a meditation. It was a new and interesting experience.

Have you ever had such an experience? Please share.

Rodan+Fields Convention/Product Launch

I couldn’t attend the convention in Vegas or go with the few members of my team that went to Charleston, SC for a virtual event, because I was already obligated to YTT. Or maybe I should say I could have gone, but I would have had to make up the YTT weekend at a cost of $60 per hour and each training is approx 20 hours long 😳. I could not justify that.

I chose the virtual option for Rodan+Fields so that I could attend and  watch from home and have immediate access to purchase the new products! Thursday night and Friday I was busy watching the convention via direct feed. Of course I missed all the weekend studies and activities, due to YTT, but I can go back and view them, multiple times! I was glad Friday was the day our new products were launched! I was able to see and order them right away! I am so excited for these three NEW products!

The new products; Intensive Renewing Serum with RetinAl, a new AMP MD micro exfoliating Roller, and the Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex

I ordered as soon as they were up (by being online I was able to see exactly when they were put up and had ordered mine before they told everyone they were ready to order, lol) and right now it looks as though I will have them by Thursday (I hope they make it here sooner)! I think I heard that the Vegas attendees were able to get theirs on the spot (that’s the only thing that would have been better). I will certainly let you know when they arrive!

If launching THREE NEW products wasn’t enough, there was also a new program announced for NEW consultants. I’m still trying to take it all in and learn the ins and outs!

Now I know you may be saying, “I can’t join Rodan+Fields, I know nothing” about skincare. Well neither did I, and that was a concern. What I did know was that I needed to up my skincare game. In fact, I don’t know any consultants who knew anything about skincare, before they started, but you don’t need to.

Why?

Drs. Rodan+Fields are Stanford trained and practicing dermatologists in California. They are so sought after, they have a two year waiting list for appointments. But they have made it easy for us to help our customers by taking away the guess work.

How?

By giving us the “Solutions Tool“.

https://jearlingbencivenni.myrandf.com/Pages/OurProducts/GetAdvice/SolutionsTool

What is that?

It is an online tool that will help you and your customers figure out what products and regimen will work best for you or them. You will also have access to a wealth of product information and there is a nurse is available to call on if you have any questions.

You may be saying “I’m a man”, I can’t join Rodan+Fields. Sure you can! We have several HIGHLY successful male consultants as well as male customers. They do sell skincare, but mainly work their businesses based on the business opportunity with the company. If you are looking for a business investment, don’t think twice. This is a sound business model, that has seen tremendous growth, and is only going to continue to grow.

Some people join Rodan+Fields as a consultant only for the product discount and are quite happy with that. Others join for the discount and soon decide they want to work the business and start moving up the ladder. Then there are those who see the tremendous business opportunity from the start and join with the intention of growing a successful business. If you want to join me and work this as a business, starting now, this new program will “reward” you for getting your business up and moving. The incentives are phenomenal and you will have access to some great training, information, and a wonderful support system. You will never feel like you are in it alone or “hung out to dry”.

There are several ways or levels to sign up and become a consultant. Starting now, if you join Rodan+Fields  with a Business Building Kit you will automatically receive the NEW products in it AND be enrolled in the NEW program. If you are interested in joining me or learning more, message or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com for details.

The Intensive Renewing Serum with the new AMP MD roller will be available for customers to order beginning October 18th and the Bright Eye Complex will be available for you to order beginning November 2nd. Why not give yourself the gift of younger looking skin for the holidays?

It was an amazing weekend but there’s no way to fully describe the intensity. I can say I’m glad to be back to a normal schedule, lol!

Simple Pleasure Thursday 10/5

We’ve passed mid-week and made to another Simple/Guilty Pleasure Thursday.

How has your week been, so far?

I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off! My mind going in a hundred directions at once. One minute I’m excited for the next Yoga Teacher Training weekend that starts tomorrow, the next I’m terrified. Self-doubt is running rampant at times. Breathe, I can do this! Enough about that, this is about Simple Pleasures.

I could list several today. Maybe I should just tell you about one and save some for another week. If you remember last Friday I told you I was going to have a phone interview with an author, Ingrid, who is working on a book The Anti-Aging Secrets of Yoga. She called Friday night and what was supposed to be a 15-20 minute interview was close to an hour! The interview was great and I enjoyed talking with someone about something I love and am passionate about. By the time we hung up it was like we were old friends!

During our call we started talking about yoga and children. Ingrid is also a yoga instructor, and has a friend, Teresa Power, who has written a book The ABC’s of Yoga for Kids and is also the founder of International Kids’ Yoga Day. I didn’t know there was Kids’ yoga day, did you? You can find Teresa’s books on her website http://www.abcyogaforkids.com and you can get information on Kids’ Yoga Day at  http://www.abcyogaforkids.com/kids-yoga-day. I have thought for some time that kids and yoga are meant for each other. If you are a yoga practitioner; have you ever noticed young children in many yoga poses, without even knowing what they’re doing? Since beginning to practice yoga myself, I have notice it with the grand littles almost every day. They are naturals. To be honest I’m a little envious of their abilities….I believe if we adults had been able to practice yoga as children we would be much better off physically and maybe even mentally now. I know I would be. I plan to start working with my littles on this and may explore it as part of my teaching journey.

So my Simple Pleasure this week is making a new friend! Do you have a simple or guilty pleasure to share? I’d love to hear about it. What do you think about yoga for kids or kids’ yoga day?

Random Musings

Please bear with me today as this post is likely to be all over the place; as I’m combining a couple of days into one.

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you this week got off to a sad start. After a nice weekend, waking up Monday to the news of what happened in Las Vegas just put a damper on the day. Instead of finishing my post I just went inside. I took time to reflect and pray for all involved. It has taken until now for me to get back in the game, and while I still can’t wrap my head around such senseless acts, we must go on.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun and exciting? Please share. We could all use some happiness.

Fall finally arrived in the Mid-Atlantic Saturday, for a couple of days. The day was crisp and you just wanted to cozy up. I made it the #saturday7amsocialclub AKA WW and to my session with Jeff. I had a good workout and set a new squat PR. We worked up to 135 which I squatted a total of 11 times 2 sets of 3, then a final set of 5! Jeff didn’t fuss, so they must have been ok. Squats scare me sometimes, especially when we add weight. I’m so afraid I’m going to go down and not get up, lol. I think that is what stops me from going as far as I need to sometimes. I would be happy if I could only deadlift…really I would, but Jeff says it doesn’t work that way….however, I could only bench press. That’s no fun. Since I am only working with Jeff once a week for the next few weeks, he has altered my schedule yet again. This week we did squats and arms. The next time we will bench press and deadlift.

Sunday morning dawned even cooler than Saturday, which was great for my run. It was my last really long run before the races (which are now officially less than three weeks away)😳. Depending on which GPS is accurate (none) I managed 14.5-16.1 miles. I ran 9 of those at what I hope will be race pace, then slowed down some and then walked the last few. I would have gone for more, but I was back near my house and nature was calling very loudly. Once I went in the house and crawled up those stairs I was not going back out. It is what it is. I will do my best to finish, even if I’m the last person crossing the line, on the sidewalk.

I also had to think about getting ready to go to Miss Mia’s birthday party! That gave me just the excuse I needed to stay home, oh shucks, lol! It turned out to be a beautiful day for the party. The adults and kids had a good time.

Now I just need to get myself ready for this upcoming weekend and my second Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) class. I feel way behind on where I need to be there too. Altering my schedule with Jeff has allowed me time to work on my practice but not as much as I need. The homework is extensive and it’s going to get even harder. Yesterday as I was studying I had one of those “what was I thinking” moments and in the next moment had a bit of an epiphany. I think I have made this harder than it is/was. I’m going with it and finishing up what I need to do this week. I think I’ve avoided some of it because I know it’s supposed to make you go inside. It’s a lesson in self-study. I was semi-prepared for it, but, let me tell you that is hard and eye-opening. It is certainly a learning experience.

The rest of this week and through the weekend will be busy. Not only will I be at YTT, it is also the Rodan+Fields annual convention! I am very excited for this. Of course, I won’t be at the actual live convention (which is being held in Las Vegas) but I have signed up to attend virtually. There will be our new product launch and I will be able to order it Friday and start sharing it with you (there are actually rumors of more than one new product)! Since I will be in YTT, I will miss much of the weekend events, but I will be able to go back and replay what I miss! I’m very excited to share in this experience. Last year the new product was Lash Boost! That was/is a phenomenal product!!! I think my lashes now have lashes! Tonight is also our monthly business opportunity FREE ZOOM call. If you are thinking of joining me in business with Rodan+Fields; be on the call tonight at 9pm EST. The call is FREE, the opportunity is like no other, and everyone on the call is pretty spectacular too! All you need to do is download the app or search ZOOM on your computer then dial in 736 578 7052 there is no pressure, just information on R+F and the opportunity. If you have questions you can ask. I hope to see you there!

Are You Ready For Some Football 🏈

TGIF! Who’s ready for the weekend? Do you have plans? I’m not quite sure what everyone around here is doing. “The Man” will work this weekend and I will catch up with the #Saturday7amsocialclub and then head to the gym, and my torture (oops) training session with Jeff. As of right now the weather looks like it will be beautiful, hopefully I can keep “The Man” away from Sam’s, lol! The nice weather weekends are sure to be ending soon.

What a couple of weeks this has been! A short week last week, because of the holiday. A really long week because of other events that occurred. School for the grand littles started back uneventfully and they seem happy (for the moment) to be back in a routine. This was the first week of fully being into the new “regular” routine and the fun has started, lol!

If that wasn’t enough, I got up last Tuesday, the day after the holiday, and started getting ready to pay some bills. I logged into our checking account to find the balance was not correct….yes, our account had been hacked! It was done on “The Mans” card. No surprise there. He thinks that card is the best thing ever…..What a mess to deal with…..we spent hours dealing with it with the bank on Tuesday, then waiting for the charge to be reversed. Fortunately I was still able to take care of what needed to be paid, they didn’t wipe out the balance, but it wasn’t just a couple of dollars either! Let me tell you, it’s was a very emotional thing. The feeling of being violated. Is it going to happen again? Just wanting to go to the bank and withdraw whatever is there. If you’ve missed hearing from me much of last week, that’s why; along with getting ready for Yoga Teacher Training-YTT. I was not able to focus on writing much. I tried but nothing made much sense. This week hasn’t been much better in that department. You may have noticed I haven’t posted on my regular schedule. I have taken the time to digest and reflect from the studies of the YTT weekend. There is a lot, but I am getting my head around it and working out a plan for my homework.

Over the past couple of weekends Collegiate and Professional football has started. The world is going to be going crazy for the next few months, lol!  I’m really not a football fan, lol, but I decided to have a little fun with the start of football season.

My Florida State Seminoles played their first game the Saturday before the holiday (it was not pretty)….Most Floridians are either camp Seminoles

or camp Gators. There is FSU (Florida State) or UF (University of Florida). Occasionally you will find someone who is a Miami fan, but not often.

(BTW, I did not make a gators necklace). I borrowed the picture from one of my Plunder sisters Robyn, who happens to be a gator fan. I still like her, lol!

We have both in our family. It’s a fun rivalry! I am a gator fan (of sorts) one game a year, when they play the Georgia bulldogs, hahaha! After that it’s back to business as usual, lol! If that’s not enough living here in Baltimore I’m slap in the middle of ravens fans. Well I am a rebel and will wear my Jacksonville Jaguars shirt!

I must support the “hometown” team, even if they haven’t played great in a loooooong time, and even though I really could care less about football. BTW, they won their first game….hope they can keep that up! Are you a football fan?

A couple of weeks ago, Plunder came out with a line called Plunder Prep. You can put together a necklace to support your favorite team and sport! So I had to make up my FSU and Jaguars Plunder Prep Necklaces!! I was even nice and adapted some a bit for the ravens fans and came up with this on the fly!

Here are the current options that are available to make your own Plunder Prep necklace. You can support you local high school, college, rec council or professional team. As you can see, there are charms for several sports. More tassel colors and charms are in the works.

If you would like to support your team, get a gift for the sports fan in your life that has “everything”, or get that new college a unique gift to support their new school,  log onto my website, go to shop, select a party with my name in it, scroll to the Plunder Prep tab and design your own. For the remainder of September I am offering a free piece of Plunder Jewelry, from me, for ANY order over $75.00 (excluding tax and shipping). Message me or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com if you need help or have any questions.

Now I couldn’t leave baseball out so I made one for my Orioles too. I much prefer baseball to football! What about you?

Are you a baseball or football fan or both? What are your favorite teams? Do you go to the games or just watch from the comfort of home? If I’m going to watch football, I would rather be home. When we first moved to Maryland we went to a Jaguars/Ravens game….It was COLD!!!! I do not like  football and certainly don’t want to freeze my tush off to watch it! Baseball I don’t mind going to watch. The weather is usually much more accommodating.

Yoga Teacher Training-Week 1

Wow! What a weekend I had! Yoga Teacher Training has commenced and weekend one is complete! What an AMAZING experience (Remind me I said that in a few months)!!!

Talk about busy! How many ways can you say intense? And I’m sure it’s going to become more so. But it was all good. It is a very long weekend schedule; Friday evening 6-9:30 and Saturday and Sunday 8:30-6:30. Fortunately it is only one weekend per month. I missed the meeting of the #saturday7amsocialclub along with my session with Jeff.

The entire weekend was such a different experience than I’m used to. Since I have only practiced yoga in a gym setting I have never experienced the calm, quiet, peaceful, zen of a studio. At the gym you hear everything going on outside the studio; the weights hitting the ground, the music from the spin class next to the studio if they go over, the basketballs bouncing if the front desk doesn’t stop them from going in. No matter how hard you try to tune it out, sometimes it just doesn’t work. What a difference! The flood of emotions in just one weekend, all I can say is: WOW!

Wednesday, last week, I received the syllabus for the weekend. When I first looked at it I was completely freaking out. My brain was not in comprehension mode at all. I looked at again on Thursday and it wasn’t as bad, but as we were heading out Friday night I was still thinking “what was I thinking”, “what have I done”.  Coming home Friday night all I wanted to do was crawl into bed to be rested for Saturday, I couldn’t/didn’t even want to try to think beyond that. Coming home Saturday night I was in such a chilled, peaceful state. Then Sunday night my head was just overrun with the weekends lessons and I was energized. I think this is going to be good!

I have missed writing the blog and communicating with everyone, either here or on social media, but it was good to go inside and leave it behind too! . You may have noticed I didn’t write much last week. That was in part getting ready for the class and having to deal with some personal things that occurred early last week.  I must say it was hard not to just grab my phone and write/type put a thought as it popped into my head. But then again there weren’t many thoughts popping into my head.

I have much “homework” to do over the next month until we go back to class. Boy is that scary! I will need to sit down later today and try to digest it all. Integration back into real life yesterday was interesting. How was your weekend? I hope you were able to get in some “me-time”.

If you are a yoga practitioner and have ever thought of teaching or thought of studying to deepen your practice, I would say go for it.

Transitioning To Fall

The day after Labor Day! The first day of school for many. The ending of summer, the beginning of fall. The change of seasons. My little Noah was up early to get ready for his first day of first grade, Miss Quinn will go to her preschool class tomorrow. She will only go one day this week, then start her regular schedule next week. This will drastically change my routine, or should I say I will be getting back into a routine?

The picture on the left was in my Facebook memories this morning. On this day five years ago Noah climbed up in my rocker all by himself. On the right is his picture from this morning, heading off to school. My “beautiful boy”, growing up so fast.

Many people have said the past couple of weeks that they look at September/fall as a time of renewal. Do you? I think I feel that way in spring and fall. In spring we are awakening from the winter and in fall we are winding down from the busy summer and preparing for winter.

As fall approaches we transition from summer wear to our fall clothes. The colors become richer, the sweaters, leggings, and boots come out of the closet. I love dressing for fall. I personally find fall, winter, and even spring easier to dress for than summer. Maybe that’s because I like the cozy sweaters and boots. I like layering at times and summer is not a good season, for me, to do that. What about you? What is your favorite season to dress for?

This past Friday on my “me day” I grabbed the camera and tripod and took myself to a local park to practice taking my own pictures. I went to a park in a “good” area because I wanted to feel safe, since I was by myself. I didn’t count on it being really busy, lol. I figured out how to work the timer feature and how to set it to take multiple shots at once and how to focus. I didn’t get great shots. The park was so busy I was actually self-conscious taking photos of myself!

It was such a crisp cool day I was able to wear early “fall” clothes. Today I was back to summer wear! I suspect this will be the trend for the next month or two, but I am suspecting we may have an early fall and winter.

Because I didn’t want people to think I was a weirdo, photographing them or their children the lighting and such was not great and I was looking into the sun more than I had wanted to. How do you bloggers who take your own photos do it? Do you only take them at home or do you go out and about? If you are out in public do you feel self conscious?

In this picture you can see the “tail” of my necklace had fallen forward. I used it because I was smiling and not squinting with my eyes closed!

I was excited to be able to wear my Covered Perfectly Fit and Flare tunic, which I featured here with a pair of Legging Army leggings and my Vince Camuto over the knee boots.

The boots can be turned down to wear as a below the knee boot too. I bought these along with a burgundy pair, in suede, last year. Can you guess which pair are my favorite? I order most of my Vince Camuto boots and shoes from the Home Shopping Network-HSN. I was a bit hesitant to order them because they are not wide calf and basically slip on with a small side zipper. My wide calf boots are actually a bit large now, but regular calf boots are hit or miss. I was so excited when they came and I could wear them, that I wanted to buy them all. These boots have about a two-inch heel, so they are pretty flat and easy to walk in. That’s actually why I chose them for this day. I didn’t want to wear “heels” knowing I was planning to be in a park.

The necklace is from Plunder and is called Lynn. It was a “bring back my bling” special earlier this year. Plunder has started to bring back a retired piece, that was really popular in limited quantities, usually once a month maybe twice. If you see something you like, you need to act fast because they don’t usually last very long.

Today we just had some beautiful special pieces posted for breast cancer awareness. These pieces will not last long, so if you or someone you know has been touched by breast cancer maybe this is a perfect gift. Plunder is donating 20% of the proceeds from the sale of these items to the “Power of Pink” walk.

If you have any questions about any of these pieces or Plunder in general, message me or email me at grandma2glamma@gamil.com. If you want to place an order you can go to my website: www.plunderdesign.com/grandma2glamma click on shop and then select any party with my name in it, right now I still have a party open from august and it will be “janeteaugust”. You will find these piece listed under “specials”.
