Are You Ready For Some Football 🏈

TGIF! Who’s ready for the weekend? Do you have plans? I’m not quite sure what everyone around here is doing. “The Man” will work this weekend and I will catch up with the #Saturday7amsocialclub and then head to the gym, and my torture (oops) training session with Jeff. As of right now the weather looks like it will be beautiful, hopefully I can keep “The Man” away from Sam’s, lol! The nice weather weekends are sure to be ending soon.

What a couple of weeks this has been! A short week last week, because of the holiday. A really long week because of other events that occurred. School for the grand littles started back uneventfully and they seem happy (for the moment) to be back in a routine. This was the first week of fully being into the new “regular” routine and the fun has started, lol!

If that wasn’t enough, I got up last Tuesday, the day after the holiday, and started getting ready to pay some bills. I logged into our checking account to find the balance was not correct….yes, our account had been hacked! It was done on “The Mans” card. No surprise there. He thinks that card is the best thing ever…..What a mess to deal with…..we spent hours dealing with it with the bank on Tuesday, then waiting for the charge to be reversed. Fortunately I was still able to take care of what needed to be paid, they didn’t wipe out the balance, but it wasn’t just a couple of dollars either! Let me tell you, it’s was a very emotional thing. The feeling of being violated. Is it going to happen again? Just wanting to go to the bank and withdraw whatever is there. If you’ve missed hearing from me much of last week, that’s why; along with getting ready for Yoga Teacher Training-YTT. I was not able to focus on writing much. I tried but nothing made much sense. This week hasn’t been much better in that department. You may have noticed I haven’t posted on my regular schedule. I have taken the time to digest and reflect from the studies of the YTT weekend. There is a lot, but I am getting my head around it and working out a plan for my homework.

Over the past couple of weekends Collegiate and Professional football has started. The world is going to be going crazy for the next few months, lol!  I’m really not a football fan, lol, but I decided to have a little fun with the start of football season.

My Florida State Seminoles played their first game the Saturday before the holiday (it was not pretty)….Most Floridians are either camp Seminoles

or camp Gators. There is FSU (Florida State) or UF (University of Florida). Occasionally you will find someone who is a Miami fan, but not often.

(BTW, I did not make a gators necklace). I borrowed the picture from one of my Plunder sisters Robyn, who happens to be a gator fan. I still like her, lol!

We have both in our family. It’s a fun rivalry! I am a gator fan (of sorts) one game a year, when they play the Georgia bulldogs, hahaha! After that it’s back to business as usual, lol! If that’s not enough living here in Baltimore I’m slap in the middle of ravens fans. Well I am a rebel and will wear my Jacksonville Jaguars shirt!

I must support the “hometown” team, even if they haven’t played great in a loooooong time, and even though I really could care less about football. BTW, they won their first game….hope they can keep that up! Are you a football fan?

A couple of weeks ago, Plunder came out with a line called Plunder Prep. You can put together a necklace to support your favorite team and sport! So I had to make up my FSU and Jaguars Plunder Prep Necklaces!! I was even nice and adapted some a bit for the ravens fans and came up with this on the fly!

Here are the current options that are available to make your own Plunder Prep necklace. You can support you local high school, college, rec council or professional team. As you can see, there are charms for several sports. More tassel colors and charms are in the works.

If you would like to support your team, get a gift for the sports fan in your life that has “everything”, or get that new college a unique gift to support their new school,  log onto my website, go to shop, select a party with my name in it, scroll to the Plunder Prep tab and design your own. For the remainder of September I am offering a free piece of Plunder Jewelry, from me, for ANY order over $75.00 (excluding tax and shipping). Message me or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com if you need help or have any questions.

Now I couldn’t leave baseball out so I made one for my Orioles too. I much prefer baseball to football! What about you?

Are you a baseball or football fan or both? What are your favorite teams? Do you go to the games or just watch from the comfort of home? If I’m going to watch football, I would rather be home. When we first moved to Maryland we went to a Jaguars/Ravens game….It was COLD!!!! I do not like  football and certainly don’t want to freeze my tush off to watch it! Baseball I don’t mind going to watch. The weather is usually much more accommodating.

Transitioning To Fall

The day after Labor Day! The first day of school for many. The ending of summer, the beginning of fall. The change of seasons. My little Noah was up early to get ready for his first day of first grade, Miss Quinn will go to her preschool class tomorrow. She will only go one day this week, then start her regular schedule next week. This will drastically change my routine, or should I say I will be getting back into a routine?

The picture on the left was in my Facebook memories this morning. On this day five years ago Noah climbed up in my rocker all by himself. On the right is his picture from this morning, heading off to school. My “beautiful boy”, growing up so fast.

Many people have said the past couple of weeks that they look at September/fall as a time of renewal. Do you? I think I feel that way in spring and fall. In spring we are awakening from the winter and in fall we are winding down from the busy summer and preparing for winter.

As fall approaches we transition from summer wear to our fall clothes. The colors become richer, the sweaters, leggings, and boots come out of the closet. I love dressing for fall. I personally find fall, winter, and even spring easier to dress for than summer. Maybe that’s because I like the cozy sweaters and boots. I like layering at times and summer is not a good season, for me, to do that. What about you? What is your favorite season to dress for?

This past Friday on my “me day” I grabbed the camera and tripod and took myself to a local park to practice taking my own pictures. I went to a park in a “good” area because I wanted to feel safe, since I was by myself. I didn’t count on it being really busy, lol. I figured out how to work the timer feature and how to set it to take multiple shots at once and how to focus. I didn’t get great shots. The park was so busy I was actually self-conscious taking photos of myself!

It was such a crisp cool day I was able to wear early “fall” clothes. Today I was back to summer wear! I suspect this will be the trend for the next month or two, but I am suspecting we may have an early fall and winter.

Because I didn’t want people to think I was a weirdo, photographing them or their children the lighting and such was not great and I was looking into the sun more than I had wanted to. How do you bloggers who take your own photos do it? Do you only take them at home or do you go out and about? If you are out in public do you feel self conscious?

In this picture you can see the “tail” of my necklace had fallen forward. I used it because I was smiling and not squinting with my eyes closed!

I was excited to be able to wear my Covered Perfectly Fit and Flare tunic, which I featured here with a pair of Legging Army leggings and my Vince Camuto over the knee boots.

The boots can be turned down to wear as a below the knee boot too. I bought these along with a burgundy pair, in suede, last year. Can you guess which pair are my favorite? I order most of my Vince Camuto boots and shoes from the Home Shopping Network-HSN. I was a bit hesitant to order them because they are not wide calf and basically slip on with a small side zipper. My wide calf boots are actually a bit large now, but regular calf boots are hit or miss. I was so excited when they came and I could wear them, that I wanted to buy them all. These boots have about a two-inch heel, so they are pretty flat and easy to walk in. That’s actually why I chose them for this day. I didn’t want to wear “heels” knowing I was planning to be in a park.

The necklace is from Plunder and is called Lynn. It was a “bring back my bling” special earlier this year. Plunder has started to bring back a retired piece, that was really popular in limited quantities, usually once a month maybe twice. If you see something you like, you need to act fast because they don’t usually last very long.

Today we just had some beautiful special pieces posted for breast cancer awareness. These pieces will not last long, so if you or someone you know has been touched by breast cancer maybe this is a perfect gift. Plunder is donating 20% of the proceeds from the sale of these items to the “Power of Pink” walk.

If you have any questions about any of these pieces or Plunder in general, message me or email me at grandma2glamma@gamil.com. If you want to place an order you can go to my website: www.plunderdesign.com/grandma2glamma click on shop and then select any party with my name in it, right now I still have a party open from august and it will be “janeteaugust”. You will find these piece listed under “specials”.

Peek-A-Boo

It’s Friday, again, a new weekend with new possibilities. New things to explore and get into! Have you made plans yet?

I have decided to start dedicating Friday’s blog post to fashion, that’s not to say there won’t be a fashion post on other days, but I like the idea of “Fashion Friday”. I am borrowing that idea from my friend and fellow blogger Amy Kennedy over at http://www.yourfavoritechapter.com. If you don’t already follow Amy, you should head over, check out her blog, and subscribe.

Today I am sharing my review of the Covered Perfectly Sexy Peek A Boo top. I gave you a sneak peek of this top Tuesday. Did you know, Covered Perfectly is Made in the USA, and is a fairly new, woman owned small business? When Pauline, the owner, of Covered Perfectly asked me if I’d like to do another “official” review for her, I was excited to do so.

DISCLAIMER: This is a sponsored post. What that means is: I was provided the product for review. If you click on the links in the post and make a purchase, I may make a small commission at no additional cost to you.

I chose the Peek A Boo in Maroon, specifically for the cut outs on the arms and the color (you may know I consider burgundy, wine, maroon my “signature” color). I have not been able to fully jump on the cold shoulder band wagon. I like the look, I like the look on others, but so far I have only found one I like on me. And I don’t wear that very often. For me they aren’t comfortable. And by that I mean the over all fit. I don’t mind the openness of the shoulders, they just don’t seem to “feel” right to me.

The Peek A Boo offers that flirty, open shoulder look and shows a bit of arm, but has more coverage than a regular cold shoulder top. It’s like a perfect union of cold shoulder meets regular sleeves. So, if you are like me and just not a cold shoulder top girl the Peek A Boo may be the perfect alternative for you too!

Are you a fan of the cold shoulder look? If so, Covered Perfectly has you covered there too! And after wearing the Peek A Boo and loving it, I may have to give one a try.

The Sexy Peek A Boo is an A-line cut so it flows and skims your body without accentuating any lumps, bumps, and jiggly wiggly bits you might have. I know I have plenty of those. The Peek A Boo is made from the MicroModal fabric (as are most Covered Perfectly tops) which has great breathability in the heat (or when you may be having your own “personal summer” moments) and you could practically sleep in it and get up and go (see Tuesday’s post for my antics before these photos were taken). They are great to wear while traveling and I always make sure to pack a Covered Perfectly Simple Comfort top when I travel for that reason. I know I can just grab it from the suitcase, change, and go when I get to my destination; if I need to.

If you are a regular follower of the blog, you likely know I am short. I can only claim to be 5′ tall on a 80’s hair day and even then it’s iffy. Although the Covered Perfectly tops do not come in a petite length, they are not too long for me. As you can see they cover my front and rear just enough, but not too much. I am wearing it here with white “pull-on” skinny jeans/jeggings, but I would be able to wear it comfortably with regular jeans, leggings or a dressier pant too. The scoop neckline is perfect for accessorizing and you can see different looks for that here. So ladies, if you are on the petite side, don’t be afraid to try a Covered Perfectly Top. If you are taller they will, obviously, be a bit shorter on you.

What do you think about this fun, fashionable, and Sexy Peek A Boo? I really want to know.

Remember as a Grandma to Glamma blog reader you get 20% OFF on up to two items when you shop at Covered Perfectly! Use the discount code GG20 when you check out at Covered Perfectly. There are several styles to choose from, and the discount will apply on up to two items. A Day At The Italian Festival

Things are starting to change, I will get it figured out

Have you ever had a day where everything and everyone irritates the living daylights out of you? Well, let me tell you, I was there on Saturday! I went to the #saturday7amsocialclub aka WW meeting and on to the gym. That was the better part of the day.

When I got home “The Man” was napping, as usual. I proceeded to get a shower and dressed. He got up and said “I guess we can ready and go to Sams”. What? Well that just set me off! I have been cooped up I the house for how long? With the littles “off the chart” do you really think I want to traipse off to the big box store on Saturday morning? I was not going to that store if we starved!!! And since our basement is akin to what I imagine someones who is  preparing for the apocalypse might look like, I don’t think starvation is happening anytime soon.

I have been trying for weeks to go try the butterfly garden and sunflower fields and have yet to get there. I told him I NEEDED to be outside!!!! I wanted fresh air and sunshine! I have still not made it to either of these places….apparently the compromise was to go to Little Italy and the St. Gabrielle’s Festival which occurs every year. Sometimes we go, sometimes we don’t.

It’s basically a street festival where you can eat your way through a couple blocks of vendors. It’s sponsored by one of the local Catholic Churches in the neighborhood.

You can’t see them very good, but there a group of Nonna’s (Nonna is Italian for grandma) sitting back there making Pizzelles. I left the Pizzelles there. You get 10 for $5.00, my thought was I could come home and make many more than 10 for less than $5.00. I did not though. You will see why as you continue reading!

Then you have a group Nonno’s (Non-no is Italian for grandpa) playing Bocce Ball. I say they were the Nonno’s as the majority are the old timers. This a permanent Bocce Ball court and you can almost always find someone there playing a game.

This year the vendors just didn’t do it for me. There was just too much commercial stuff you can get anywhere. Does that make sense?

I did find a bite to eat, go figure, lol! After walking through I decided to have an Arancini.

If you don’t know, Arancini is a rice ball. A fried ball of deliciousness. I had a choice of sausage and peppers or crab and shrimp. I chose the crab and shrimp!

In my mind the seafood was healthier, hahaha! I just had to get a cup of wine to wash it down….there’s nothing like some wine in a plastic Dixie cup, lol!

The man caught me checking out the Alfa Romero’s on display!

A girl can dream, right? Unfortunately or maybe fortunately they don’t make a “bus”….but, if I go take a test drive I can get a $25 gift card and $250 off, lol!!! I think I’ll pass. I’m quite sure I would love the way it drives and want to take home. Not only do I hate having a car payment, and I have one with the bus, it is not practical for me right now with all the grand littles. And the man does not need that for a work vehicle, although I’m sure he would think otherwise.

I was looking to see where he had wandered off to. The dress is from WHBM. It is mainly navy with some light blue, tan, yellow, and white. I like it with my tan Vince Camuto sandals and yellow, cream and tan cross body bag (both from HSN). You can’t see my jewelry very good, but I have on a pair of dangle earrings that I got in Italy (in Epcot at Disney last year, lol). That’s likely the closest I will ever get….the blue bracelet on my left arm is Plunder and called Ritta. It is a narrow denim bangle type with gold and silver along with a row of rhinestones and is one of the new magnetic closures. They are so easy to put in and take off! My other bracelets are a combination of Plunder and one of my Pandora bracelets. I don’t think this dress needs a necklace.

On the way out of the festival we had to stop by a local Italian bakery; Vaccaro’s. I just “had” to get some cannoli chips and dip.

Can you say yum? I only get what they call an individual serving (it’s more than I need) but they give you enough cream for what I don’t know….fyi, I got a homemade mango gelato too….

Later in the day “The Man” thought we should go to the mall….we were only at the festival maybe 30-45 minutes. It doesn’t take long to walk through, unless you eat and drink your way through. Now what part of being outside did he forget? We went and I bought NOTHING! Can you believe that? I even spent almost and hour in WHBM trying on things, and although I liked them, they were in sale, and I had coupons but I found no joy in being there.

It finally dawned on me after I completely snapped at him, my hormones are getting out of whack; way out of whack (ladies I imagine some of you know what I mean)….. This may be why the littles are so on my last nerve too, besides this eclipse business which I’m still convinced has had an effect on moods. Times are starting to change….this is going to be a challenge.

As I pondered what was going on the rest of the weekend, I started putting two and two together. I started noticing more than a month ago I would got to bed freezing then I was waking during night with what I’m now believe were hot flashes. At the time I kind of chalked it up to it being summer and the nights being so hot and humid and such. I can also cry, just for the sake of crying; happy I can cry, sad I can cry, angry I can cry (after I let loose with both barrels). Then I started doing some more math and realized it’s also been about three months since that monthly annoyance has visited. Now I knew it had been a little while, but wasn’t thinking it was that long. I’m sure you know I don’t really mind that. It’s the rest that comes along when she leaves that is going to cause problems, if I’m not careful. Let’s hope I can through this with out completely going around the bend. And I have thought a couple of times I was careening around it pretty darn fast!

Ironically I thought this was done and over with several years ago. I started taking a bio-identical progesterone during my 40s due to some imbalances, and going through some of the same things. After a period of time my cycle stopped. My GYN and I thought after more than a year, it was done and For six years or so, nothing! Then I started losing weight and after losing 35 pounds, guess what returned? Just as if it had never left….😡 I also stopped the progesterone as I felt great and my doctor and I decided if I didn’t need it there was no sense in continuing to take it and I could restart it at anytime I needed to. So for the past almost three years things have been great. Guess who I called today? Yes, it’s time to revisit some alternatives. If not I think I am going to go mad. Yoga and other exercise hasn’t helped. It does while I’m there, but so far long-term it’s not doing it. I’m now wondering if this is a factor in some of the weight I’ve gained back. There are so many changes going with my body; the increasing activity and now the likely hormonal changes. If it is indeed a factor I will most definitely need to be more diligent with my diet and work this out. It may well explain the increasing cravings for things I generally could care less about. I will get this figured out! Hopefully sooner rather than later.

So friends have you been there, done that yet? How have you fared? How/what did you do to get through it? Any thoughts/words of wisdom will be appreciated. I’m sure there are others who may want to know too! As women we are all in this together!

After all that my daughter came home and wanted to know if I wanted to go Sunday afternoon and get some pictures for the blog. Just wait until see what we got into….I still can’t believe it!

Neutrals With A Pop of Color

TGIF! We have made it to the weekend! We have nothing planned around here, at the moment, but that is always subject to change. It is “The Mans” Saturday to work so that will likely limit what we decide to do. I imagine we will stay fairly close to home after traveling last weekend. Maybe I can plan that “me” weekend I told you about last week! Or maybe I already have. My yoga teacher training starts in three weeks. YIKES! For one weekend a month for the next nine months I will be doing nothing but something for me. Apparently I should expect it to be quite intense and reentry into regular life may be challenging. It’s so exciting and scary! Do y’all have anything exciting planned? Please share.

I have already told you a bit about our trip to the outlets last weekend. Our school shopping was a success. We were not quite sure how the day would pan out as the weather was subject (according to the powers that be) to be pretty iffy. Thunderstorms were called for at home and there. It actually turned out to be a beautiful day after a few early morning showers; until we were about halfway home. Then the bottom fell out for quite a ways!

I had planned on getting some pictures for the blog and managed a few, but like I told you earlier I was not happy with them. We didn’t take the camera because we didn’t want to be “bothered” with it. I have the iPhone7 and the camera is supposed to be the best thing ever. Maybe more practice is needed.

We did find a great old covered bridge to use for the pictures. It is still used by Amish for taking buggy tours over.

Even though rain/storms were called for the temperature was still supposed to be in the 80s, I wanted to be cool and comfortable, but still look stylish and put together.

I decided on a tank top and maxi skirt.

This tank is the SIMPLE SCOOP NECK TANK in gray from Covered Perfectly. It wears beautifully, the straps are wide enough that you don’t have to worry about your other straps showing, and like other Covered Perfectly tops it just skims and flows over your body. The MicroModal fabric is the best. We took these photos on the way home and after traveling and shopping all day. It wasn’t wrinkled and stayed cool, even in the heat and humidity. I am wearing a small. Did you know Covered Perfectly is made right here in the USA? I paired it with a maxi skirt from Legging Army, this pattern is called Picture Perfect. I haven’t mentioned the Legging Army maxis before, because as fast as they were launched they were selling out. I couldn’t write fast enough, lol! This is the first one I’ve gotten. There are a variety of patterns. I will be getting more. Several of the maxi styles are on sale (this one included) along with shorts, and athletic wear; while they last.

Remember as a Grandma to Glamma blog reader you get 20% OFF on up to two items when you shop at Covered Perfectly! Use the discount code GG20 when you check out at Covered Perfectly. There are several styles to choose from, and the discount will apply on up to two items. Or you may take advantage of the “Buy 2 get your 3rd FREE” special. This special applies to any combination of items storewide, just add 3 items to your cart and the discount will be applied
automatically. Only one of the discounts will work. Start shopping!

I wore the August Plunder Posse for a pop of color against the neutral pallet of the gray. Even though there are several colors in the skirt they are all neutrals. The burgundy of the necklace is a perfect color with gray. At least in my opinion. It doesn’t hurt that it’s my “signature” color. The discs in the necklace and earrings work back to the circle patterns in the skirt. It’s was almost as if they were made for each other! The bracelets are the magnetic bling bracelets that I’ve showed you before. I wore Tina, which is a pinky/purple color. It was one of the Mother’s Day specials and is no longer available. The black one is called Ezra and the other one is Flynn which has iridescent stones.

If you aren’t familiar with the Plunder Posse it is a jewelry subscription, much like Ipsy, Birch Box, Graze, etc; where for $25 per month including tax and shipping you receive 1-3 pieces of Plunder Jewelry that is not in the catalog. Now is a great time to sign up because it’s the middle of the month. That allows you to see in advance what that months selection is and if you don’t like it you can cancel and sign back up the next month or even get it and give as a gift. Think Secret Sisters, Secret Santa’s, and Teachers gifts! You could have the perfect unique gift for someone, that doesn’t break the bank.

My daughter, Amanda, was doing the picture taking, and decided I should climb up on a ledge….now y’all know I’m short, right? So it was quite a feat for me to get up there. It may not look too high from the inside, but when you aren’t very tall…..and in a skirt…..it was comical!

Have I told you I have a fear of heights too?

Can you believe she wanted me to stand on the narrow part of the ledge, in front of the red part of the bridge?

I did not. It wasn’t much bigger than my feet, and I have small feet. That was a long way down. I may be half crazy, but not totally, lol.

Some details inside the bridge

My BoHo Attempt

The past couple of weeks have been crazy hot here. Maybe it was the same where you are too. Last Saturday after doing some shopping at a big box store (you should have seen the fridge before, it was like Mother Hubbard's cupboard) we came home and just vegged, hoping to stay cool. Ok "The Man" slept, I just sat around and vegged. I earned it, lol. I had a very intense workout, with Jeff that morning, which I'll be telling you about in another post.

After "The Man" woke up we decided to go out for dinner at the last-minute. Well it was that or not eat; just because we went to the store doesn't mean I was planning to cook….😂😂. I really wanted to go to Artscape (that is an annual local art festival that always seems to coincide with the hottest weekend of the year). We didn't make it there. It was "The Mans" Saturday to work and at 5:30 that morning it was 84 degrees, walking around outside was not on his list of fun things to do.

So dinner it was, but where to? That is almost always a challenge question.

"The Man" has been on a Tater Tot (of all things) kick recently, much to my dismay….they are ok now and then, but I find them extremely salty. Well, Jeff (I think he's a bad influence, after all I never knew about Duck Donuts until Jeff told me about them, and for those who may be new to the blog, Jeff is my personal trainer) recently told me about and has posted all over social media about tater tots at a Japanese restaurant in the city called Sticky Rice. Apparently they are the best things ever! Now I still haven't made the connection between tater tots and Japanese cuisine, but ok. If it works….Well, "The Man" suggested we go there. Had he finally lost it? He does not eat Japanese food, he doesn't remotely eat anything that resembles Japanese food. So what was he going to eat other than tater tots? Nothing. I looked at the menu online, it would have been a stretch to modify anything to where he would eat it. I just couldn't….maybe we can go there, just because, some day but not for a meal…..I don't see that being an enjoyable date….Do you know what I mean?

Since that didn't work out we went to The Iron Rooster. I've told you about them before. We've only been there for breakfast and they serve that all day, so we could get that or try something new. "The Man" had breakfast and I got dinner. I ordered shrimp and biscuits.

I said biscuits, but it's really only one biscuit. They are HUGE! This may not look like a lot, but I couldn't finish it all (and I ate some shrimp before I took the picture). However, there wasn't enough left to bring home either.

I decided to "experiment" with an outfit and attempt a BoHo look. It was a very casual, hangout and enjoy the evening outfit. Except for the color, I thought it would be coolish should we decide to venture to Artscape too.

No make up, except for some lip color. It has really been too hot the past few weeks. I feel like even the lightest makeup will be sliding off. I imagine you girls know what I mean.

Since the Lululemon tank was black and the pants were black with a tan print, I added a bit of color with my Plunder Jewelry. The earrings are called Judy. They are part of the filigree collection and are only $8.00! There is something for everyone in the filigree collection and they are so light weight! The short, bar necklace is called Jefra; it comes with whatever initial you would like. I like that it is gold-colored. Yellow gold has always been my go to, but I am getting out of my box there. The long necklace is called Avery. The size of the pendant and coral/orangish beads say BoHo to me. They remind me of the "love beads" from yesteryear. Who remembers those? I looked at it for a while before getting it. I was worried about the length. I could have shortened it a bit more. The bracelets are the magnetic bling bracelets; Ezra which has black stones and Kayson which is peach stones. The larger bead bracelet that is in the middle of them is from the Julius set that was a special last month.

I don't think the look or outfit was awful, but I'm not sure it was totally me or that I was over successful with my attempt either. What do you think?

I bought the pants two years ago, at Target, but have only wore them once or twice. I practically forgot about them until one of the 40 Plus Style Club challenges last month. The exercise was to style a pair of print pants with an asymmetrical top. I do like the pants, but I have yet to find a shoe I like with them. I'm still working on that, but I wore my nude sandals by Vince Camuto via HSN, this time, I've shown you them before. They were better than some I've tried and I could/would wear them again.

One of the comments from the "experts" in the style club was the pants are more of a BoHo style maybe even tribal, and I'm more of a classic style. As I write this raga muffin would be appropriate, lol. I still have a couple of ideas to work on with them, then I'll decide if they stay or go.

Here are the two looks I put together for the style challenge, along with a closeup of the print in the pants. Now remember the top idea was asymmetrical and both of these colors worked with the pants.

I'm still learning the art of self photography…..stay with me, this may be a long lesson!

I had a aha moment, that day, and decided to try heels for the challenge. I don't hate them, but I don't love them either. I think they look better with these tops than sandals or flats would. These are also much higher than I would wear if I were going to be walking a lot. I did successfully (according to the group) make my legs look long. That's something; right? Lol!

The short top is from the That Woman line by Marlo Thomas and is available from HSN. The longer top is actually the top from the Covered Perfectly Leisure Suit. The top from the leisure suit has been so popular that Pauline has brought them out as a stand alone piece now! If you haven't tried covered perfectly yet, you need to. Remember as a Grandma to Glamma blog reader you get 20% OFF on up to two items!
Use the discount code GG20 when you check out at Covered Perfectly.
There are several styles to choose from, and the discount will apply on
up to two items. Or you may take advantage of the “Buy 2 get your 3rd FREE” special. This special applies to any combination of items store
wide, just add 3 items to your cart and the discount will be applied
automatically. Only one of the discounts will work.Start shopping!

Which look do you like best, from the style challenge? I think I like the longer Covered Perfectly top best, but that is within my comfort zone. I am trying to learn to go outside that zone and try new looks. The style club is helping with that. I am trying somethings I would have never thought of.

Our Visit to Dutch Wonderland

I’ve shared this previously, so many of you know, we celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary on July 8th, with a trip to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA, with a couple of the grand littles.

Then and Now

We were the first car in the parking lot….had it been up to “The Man” we may have been there even earlier, lol! Ok, we weren’t extremely early and at least we are able to get the “bus” parked, before the parking lot filled up!

This was the first time we had been there, but will likely not be the last. It’s designed for kids. Yes, you moms, dads, and grandparents can ride some of the rides and they are adding a new roller coaster which will be for the older kiddos or adults, but this mainly a littles friendly park!

A little bit on the history of the park

I saw the above plaque on the ground as we were leaving. I thought it a bit ironic, and cool, to learn that the park opened on May 20 (that was the date the “The Man” and I met and we went there on the date we were married). It is also (slightly) older than me, lol! With so many things and places not staying around long, it was nice to see it has stood the test of time.

Before going in we had to measure the kids to see what rides they could ride.

Yay! I’m tall enough to ride all the rides, lol!

Have a look at this cute little chapel in the middle of the park! How cute was that? And just too perfect for the day!

Of course we had to use it as a photo-op to “re-create” a wedding (my idea, lol). It was our anniversary after all! How could I pass up an opportunity like that?

Our wedding guests and “witnesses”, they sure are cute, but I’m not sure how reliable they are, lol! What do think?
Are we done yet?

“The Man” appears to be talking here, Lol! These are the types of photos he usually tries to get of me, hahaha! Is that possibly a real smile? After we left I realized we didn’t get a “kiss” photo. Somehow we never made it back there to do it…..I’m reasonably sure if the “The Man” never saw the lens side of a camera he’d be happy, lol!

Noah and Miss Quinn getting ready to ride the whip!

We found a dinosaur park! Noah has always loved dinosaurs, and knows the names of many from his books.

But to say we were shocked when Noah walked up to the Ankylosaurus and told us the name of it, is an understatement! To our knowledge this is not a species he has read about. I know his reading skills are quite advanced for a six-year-old, but that is a BIG word!

“The Man” and I took a few minutes to ourselves and rode the gondola! Can’t get to wild, you know, lol!

A corn field

The kids rode almost all of the rides they could, then we spent some time at the water park. No pictures there, lol!

But, look what I found! If you are Disney aficionado you will recognize this!

A highlight of the day. Dole Whip! Just like they have at “the mouse house” but the line was nowhere near as long! I enjoyed every bite/sip (I got the float)!

This cute tunic style dress came from Old Navy. When I picked it up I thought it was navy blue, but when I put it on to wear it the first time it looked black, then outside it was navy again. I have gone back and forth and still have no idea what color it is, lol! Maybe it’s like that dress that was going around the internet a couple of years ago, that no one knew what color it was! Remember that? It’s a great summer dress, that will also work well with leggings or jeans. In fact I had my white jeans on the day I bought it and loved the look. I can see it getting a lot of wear for a few seasons. Although you can’t see them here, since “The Man” cut my feet off (better than my head?)but they show in previous photos; I wore my white low-cut converse sneakers. My earrings are Plunder. These are called White Drop and are part of our filigree collection. We have a large variety of earrings in this collection and they are ONLY $8.00! You can click here to go to the website and check them out, while you are there look around and see what else we have to offer. If you have any questions about Plunder jewelry or how to join my team, message me or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com. The bracelet is part of the Julius set that was a special last month. It sold out really fast as most of them do. I didn’t wear a necklace as I wasn’t sure what kind of rides there were or if I would be fighting with it all day. My cross body bag is one I’ve shared with you before. It is by Sharif and purchased a few years ago from HSN. My sunnies are my prescription ones. I don’t usually wear my contacts when traveling, especially if I don’t know how late we will coming home.

We had a great time. The weather was great, not too hot, which after a week of really hot, humid conditions that was a welcome change! This is a great park to visit if you have little kids. We purchased our tickets a week in advance so we got a bit of discount and the adult price was less than $35.00. “The Man” was even less; since he turned 60 this year he got the senior rate!!!! I don’t think is too bad for a day at an amusement park that almost all littles can enjoy! Food, just like most parks, was overpriced and not the best, but edible. They also had some semblance of healthier options. If you are a camper, they also have a campground and offer cabins. Have you been to Dutch Wonderland? If so, please share your experience with us!

Fashion Friday-Travel Outfit/Style Club Challenge 7

A simple shift dress, styled three ways

As you know I went away last week. Before going I was asked if I could  write a post about what I wear for travel. I mentioned last week that my traveling attire was nothing to write about. Or so I thought. For the most part comfort has been my only requirement. We drive mostly to our destinations and dressing up to spend hours in the car is not fun. When I was overweight I certainly didn’t care, and had adopted an attitude of I’d likely never see those same people again; so who cared?

That may not have been the best strategy.

Even after losing the weight, I didn’t really think too much about it. This is what I wore to and from Florida on vacation last year. On our way we stopped in my hometown of Jacksonville. I met up with my sister at the cemetery to “visit” those who are no longer with us.

I’m on the left, for those who don’t already know me. Now keep in mind we were traveling in the car for over twenty hours each way, so comfort was key. And it was August so heat and humidity were a big factor. All in all I guess this wasn’t too bad and definitely can qualify as an “athleisure” look, with emphasis on the “leisure”….

I decided it was time to up my game, and this is what I came up with for this trip.

The one thing I didn’t count on when I found this dress was how easily it would wrinkle. Other than that it was just about perfect! The only thing that could make it better would be those little snaps that some dresses have to hold your bra straps in place and pockets. I have come to like simple dresses with pockets! Why, I don’t know. It isn’t like I really put stuff in them, but I like them. The little bra strap hooks things are fabulous though. I may be able to add them myself.

See how useful those little “strap hooks” would be for this dress

I was actually able to use this for this weeks style club challenge too. I have not been as active in this months challenges as I had hoped to be. It seems the month completely got away from me, and fast! I have figured out a way to make some of it up and will have some new looks for you and the club soon!

I was hoping to be able to get some photos shot while away, but that thought went out the window quickly. I was able to photograph this dress, but that was it. It was a bonus that I could use it for the style challenge!

Our assignment last week was to style one dress three different ways; using a belt (I didn’t), a scarf, and a hat (you know the hat was up my alley)! I didn’t even realize when I photographed this that it would work, for the challenge I was just hoping to have a blog post. But I’m glad it did!

Here was my idea for taking this simple dress from day to an evening out, by adding a scarf, heels, and matching bag for a monochromatic look. Since I was traveling and knew we would be going straight to the beach, pretty much, I did not wear any make up. But this is the real me. More often than not I don’t wear makeup and in triple digits with humidity….well.

I was in such a hurry to get this done, before the littles went into melt down mode that I forgot to take my watch and FitBit off. This little dress came from Target. The scarf is from White House Black Market. I fell in love with it this past fall. The shoes you’ve seen before from Payless and the little bag is from Coach. Most of the jewelry is from Plunder. The earrings are in the new catalog and called Bowie. As large as they look they are very light and you don’t even know you are wearing them. The bracelets on the left, you’ve seen before. They are retired with the exception of the one with the turquoise beads. The bracelets on the right are my Alex and Ani bracelets along with the Plunder Lindy bracelet that has my initial. It was retired too, when the spring line came out. I decided against a necklace since there was such a bib detail already on the dress. I did try a couple and everything seemed to just get lost in the dress.

Here is my “hat look”.

Of course you know as soon as we went outside and I put a hat on the winds kicked in and I was fighting the hat the entire time! I removed my earrings before heading to the boardwalk. These sandals are the ones I wore on the ride down. They are my favorite Vince Camuto brand and came from the Home Shopping Network (HSN). The hat is from Betsy Johnson and came from HSN also, last year. The little cross body bag is by Vera Bradley and is at least eight years old and it has quite a history…..

What do you think of my somewhat “retro” sun shades? I took a lot of “ribbing” for those….and guess what I did? I put them in my little bag to get on a ride with Noah, then put my phone in next to them without thinking. See where it is in the pocket in the picture? I lost a brand new phone (as in three days old new) in Disney in 2009 out of this same purse, from that same pocket, on the Tower of Terror….so of course I knew not to leave it there….when I took my shades out to put them back on, one of the lenses was all scratched up; right in my line of sight…..my phone case has some little “blingy” jewels on it, and I must have put that side next to the lenses of the glasses. I think it’s time to not use this bag for amusement parks.

On the bright side, at least those glasses were inexpensive. I got them from BJs wholesale club. I went back this past weekend and they still had some. I bought a new pair of the same ones along with a different pair. I had not told “The Man” about my little accident until we were at the store and I saw they still had some. I went to pick them up and he said “didn’t you just buy a pair of those a couple of weeks ago”? And the rest of that story went something like this: “Why, Yes, Yes, I did…but what had happened was”…..I felt like Lucy “splainin” to Ricky, lol! Can you believe he was not amused?

What do you think about taking a simple shift dress, and styling it three different ways? Can you think of anything different to do with it?

Two of my precious littles

Remember, since it’s still June, your comments still count towards the Plunder Give Away for the rest of this week and next! So keep them coming! I’m having fun giving y’all gifts!

Plunder has also just released new sign on incentive. I know a couple of you have been on the fence about joining me with Plunder. Well, now is the time!

If you join before the end of June you could earn the $99 fee you pay for your starter kit back AND be eligible for the Plunder cruise in January!!! How awesome is that?

Where else can you start your own business for $99, earn that money back, so essentially you’ve started your business for nothing, and earn a free cruise? The jewelry pictured is what will come in your starter kit. This is your jewelry to wear, display, or sell (if you want). If you change mind about being a Plunder Stylist, at the least you’ve bought 8 gorgeous pieces of Plunder for much less than you would have paid per piece. Email me at Grandma2Glamma@gmail.com for more details or if you are ready to join. You can also just click here then click on “PLUNDER OPPORTUNITY” then “STARTER KIT” and sign up. Covered Perfectly Fit and Flare

The 3/4 sleeves are a perfect three season top for my climate

Oh. My. Gosh. I think I am in love! I have shared Covered Perfectly and my Simple Comfort Tops with you before. They are Made in America and Covered Perfectly is a small woman owned company, that is still fairly new. Pauline, the owner, is just fabulous.

I was recently given the opportunity to review a new top and I chose the Fun and Flirty Fit and Flare in Royal Blue you can find it here. I have always thought about ordering this style and I would put in my cart and take it out. So when presented with this opportunity, I chose it. I have no idea why I waited! It is as fabulous as all the others. I did have a hard time deciding how/what to wear it with. There are so many ways I can think of and I can’t wait to style it with all my ideas, but for now I will stick with the first idea I had.

If you remember I have been on the hunt for a pair of crop pants, that look okay on my short self, and I finally found a pair that I like. Can you believe I have bought my second pair of  “distressed” jeans? Don’t tell “The Man”, lol. The Fit and Flare was a perfect complement for them.

We headed out to Sherwood Gardens. I just knew the royal blue would pop against the colors of the flowers. It did not disappoint. I added white wedges for more of a dressy casual feel.  The neckline of this top lends itself to accessorizing with a statement necklace. I decided on a bib of silver floating hearts with matching earrings. I thought it would look great in the setting; adding a little bit of romance…

We then headed out to Ft. Howard, where I decided to change into a pair converse sneakers, for exploring the ruins of an old fort. Of course I had to add some pearls because, you know, I am a blue jeans and pearls kind of girl!

I like both looks, but the sneakers with the crops might be my favorite. The Fit and Flare dressed up the casualness of the distressed jeans. The longer length of the pearl necklace adds a vertical line and visually gives that look of thirds, so that even with the flat shoes/sneakers I don’t look quite as short. Lol, who am I kidding?!?!

I have shown y’all my “lumps and bumps” before. As you can see they are not jumping out at you. That’s just one of the reasons I like the Covered Perfectly Tops so well. They skim your body instead of clinging to those problem areas. The 3/4 length sleeves in many of the styles help to hide those “bat wings” we may develop after a certain age. They are also very comfortable to wear in the summer months and thin enough to layer nicely if needed. This was a beautiful warm, sunny day and I was very comfortable. Knowing I can wear this in the summer and be comfortable while out and about is a great benefit. The 3/4 sleeves are a perfect three season top for my climate.

What do you think about this
Fun and Fabulous Fit and Flare? Are you already a fan of Covered Perfectly or have you yet to try them? If you would like to order yours, or check out the rest of the Covered Perfectly line you can do so by clicking on the banner below.

May Style Club Accessories Challenge-2

Do you wear scarves

I was a little late to the party for the week 1 accessory challenge, so here we are already moving on to week two!

This week the theme was scarves. I don’t wear a lot of scarves and find styling them to be a challenge, or intimidating, especially in warmer months. Wearing and styling in winter is much easier, for me. I was totally out of my comfort zone.

“The Man” decided we should go out for breakfast on Sunday. Since the weather decided that it was time to let us know winter hadn’t entirely left, I decided to work on my scarf challenge.

The group decided this looked good, added interest, and that the entire ensemble worked for the setting. I am not overly happy with it. I tried tying and draping the scarf several different ways and this was the best I came up with. I guess it works, for a casual look, but I’m sure it could be better. The jeggings and tunic you’ve seen before. Someone suggested cuffing the jeggings above the booties to show skin….let’s just say that was not an option this day! My legs do look a bit long in this picture, lol.

Do you wear scarves? Do you have any tips?

I have been working on changing the website.  I know things may look a bit different  and may for a while, as I get everything back the way I want it. In all honesty it’s about drive me bonkers….if I wasn’t there already. Somethings are working right, somethings not so much. In time maybe I will get this figured out too. Please be patient. I have been assured it will all come together. Famous last words? If any of you are techie folks and have any tips; I’m open to suggestions!

Please comment and let me know if you are seeing the posts and/or getting the email (if you have previously signed up). Your feed back will help me know how things are working.

I appreciate your support and sharing. Remember you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and on Bloglovin. Please give a shout out and let me know what is working and what isn’t.

Until the next time
