Freebie Friday

Hi there! It’s Friday again. Christmas is barely more than two weeks away, and life is going to get crazy or crazier….

What do you have in the works for the weekend? Anything fun?

If you a regular reader of the blog you probably already know part of what I will be doing. Lol, I am rather predictable. But before my regular Saturday activities (you know the #saturday7amsocialclub and my session with Jeff) get here; tonight we will be attending Miss Quinn’s preschool Christmas play. Since Miss Quinn is the third grand little to attend preschool at Inverness Presbyterian Preschool the play was the same for many years. This year they have changed it! It will be exciting to see the changes and the new play! The kids are always so cute. It’s amazing to see the changes in most of them from their three-year old year to four.

Hopefully my Saturday activities will occur. The “S” word (snow) has been thrown around, and would more likely be more of a winter mix and may cause things to be closed or delayed. I hope not. I will officially switch over to the new WW plan #Freestyle. I am looking forward to all the new information!

Next week I will be gearing up for YTT next weekend. It is sure to have me in a tizzy, again, lol!

Today is the last day of my participation in the Real Moms Blog 12 Days of Giveaways. Today’s giveaway is a basket of Rodan+Fields goodies, pictured below!

Here is what’s included in todays giveaway: (3) Mini Facials-featuring the NEW Intensive Renewing Serum; you can keep all three or share, (2) three-day samples of the Active Hydration Serum, (2) Micro-DermAbrasion Paste packs, and (1) Full Size tube of the NEW Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex! I will also be adding a little surprise to your package….to enter join the Real Moms Blog 12 Days of Giveaways Facebook page, and follow the instruction on the post to be entered. A Busy Time

Is it just me or does December seem to be marching by really fast? I guess 2018 is in a hurry to get here, or 2017 is ready to be done, lol!

Did y’all have a good weekend? Mine was fifty shades of busy, but fun!

It started out Friday with a special yoga class. It was a strap class. If you practice yoga you probably know you can use a strap to modify a posture that you may struggle with or to help you get deeper into a posture. This class was using the strap as part of the posture. It was a lot of fun! But it also was a great way to change the dynamic of the postures! This will be fun to continue practicing.

Saturday morning brought about the #saturday7amsocialclub and my session with Jeff!

Last week I told you I was hoping to not be up too much from the previous weeks WI (remember the WI I said I should not have done, lol). I don’t feel like I was doing a good job working the plan last week but I did recover and was only up half a pound from the previous week. Not too bad. I will work diligently to maintain that throughout the remainder of the holiday season! But if I lose a little that will be just fine, too!

I was free for December! Woo Hoo!

I also received my annual lifetime key! If you weigh in free for 10 out of 12 mos you get a new lifetime key each year. January is the month I made it back to goal, three years ago. I always get my key in December instead of earlier or waiting because I have weighed in every month of the calendar year. So far I have weighed in below goal every month since getting back to goal. I am planning to continue that trend. I gave WW plenty of my money to lose weight, I don’t plan to give them more….lol!

The new plan, or plan tweaks I guess I should say, rolled out Sunday. I won’t get the true sense of it or the materials until Saturday when it’s my official weigh in day. I told you I was playing with it a bit for the past couple of weeks, based on the rumors from the changes in the UK. Now that it’s here the postings are going crazy so I’m diving into more strictly based on the info being posted. I have adjusted my app to work, but am also tracking on paper, since the points values of foods won’t change for me until Saturday. I could go to an alternate meeting and get the materials (and I’m tempted) but I will wait.

I know a couple of you have mentioned maybe restarting WW. Have you taken the plunge? Are you waiting until the new year? If you have, and have the new materials, what do you think of the new changes? If you haven’t these changes seem to be great. I think it will make the plan much easier to fit into busy schedules! I would love to hear your thoughts.

Then Sunday I set up with Plunder and did my first ever vendor event!

This was definitely a bit different for me! I know y’all love Plunder and I thought it was time to share it with others. This was an event that is usually quite busy, but this time it was pretty slow. I did meet some new people and hopefully some new friends, but I was surprised that it wasn’t busier. All in all it was fun, a new experience, and practice for the possibility of participating in future events. “The Man” got to go grocery shopping again…..I’ve said this before, we won’t starve…..lol!

I will participating in a holiday giveaway with Real Moms Blog on the 7th and 8th! I will be giving away Plunder on the 7th and Rodan+Fields on the 8th. There are other giveaways throughout the week! Go to the Facebook page https://m.facebook.com/groups/134351100559794 and join in so that you can participate! The more the merrier!

If you are still looking for some last-minute gifts Plunder is shipping same/next day for now so there’s still time order and to receive it in time for your holiday celebrations and gift giving. Rodan+Fields orders need to be placed by 12/11 to guarantee you receive them in time for Christmas, unless you want to pay for expedited shipping.

I still can’t believe it’s so close! Have you finished shopping or still working on it? We are still working on it. I can’t believe how far behind I really am….each child has something, but I am behind. I haven’t been this behind in forever! I have been trying to adopt the four gift rule for  couple of years “something to wear, something to read, something they want, something they need” “The Man” fights that concept. He seems to think the house needs to look like Toys R Us exploded in the living room! I’m sure we aren’t the only ones who would have a house full of stuff that is forgotten by the end of the day and maybe no longer works…..I hope we can avoid that. How do you handle the holidays? Have you adopted a gift number rule or set a dollar amount  per person to spend? Or are you like “The Man”?

Let me hear from you! I’m interested in how others make this work. No judgement, just curious.

Black Friday Shopping

Woo Hoo! It’s Friday! Not just any Friday this week but the Friday after thanksgiving! That makes it Black Friday! A day for shopping! The “official” kickoff to the holiday shopping season! Oh and let’s not forget stuffing ourselves with those yummy leftovers….

Are you a Black Friday shopper? Are you Thanksgiving night shopper? Did you clear away your Thanksgiving day feast and hit the stores last night? No judgment, just wondering.

I hope you had a great day with family and friends. We had a quiet relaxing day of sorts. That’s because we aren’t having our “traditional” Thanksgiving dinner until Sunday. That means I’ll be going crazy the rest of the weekend, lol!

I have never been much of a Black Friday shopper. Watching the news and seeing people go crazy and attacking others over saving a couple of dollars was enough to keep me home! I said long ago there was nothing out there worth risking your life over! That’s not to say I have never been out and about, and the few times I have stood in line for something it was a good experience. I know some of the stories are the extreme and not the norm, but boy are they scary!

“The Man” took off work one year just so we could go shopping on Black Friday! I don’t think he believed how crazy it was out there, until we got to the toy store and the line was wrapped three times around the park lot at midnight-ish! After standing there for what seemed like forever, he gave up, lol!!! We wandered through a few more stores that were open and came home and went to bed. Later we got up to get to Barnes and Noble before they opened. That year they offered a special edition nook e-reader for $79 . That was my present to me. I had made the jump to e-readers before that with the nook color, but after some time realized a regular reader would be better for reading while traveling in the car. I have since switched to the nook glow light…..speaking of which a new edition the nook glow 3 is being released today and is only $99! If you are an e-reader person that might be for you! That year was “The Mans” first and last foray into Black Friday shopping! He is now okay with going to work, lol!

I’m perfectly ok staying home and shopping online! I know there are some crazy good deals out there, my inbox has been flooded with them, and I bet your is too! Here is one of my favorites.

I just got off the phone with “The Man” a few minutes ago and he said “I’m surprised you don’t want to go to the “black store”” as  he calls it. Well, now the you mentioned it, we could go……lol! I probably will not. I don’t “need” or want anything so why go?

Last night going out wasn’t an option for me. The only vehicle I could have taken was “the bus”, it can be a challenge to park on a regular shopping day, there was no way I was going to try and park and maneuver that thing around parking lots full of crazy shoppers 😂😂

To help you out with your shopping I have a few deals of my own to share with you.

PLUNDER DESIGN: Plunder will have a lot of Black Friday specials throughout the day. The savings are really great but there is a catch. The specials will be released at different times throughout the day and no one knows when they will release. What I do know it that nothing will be released today before 9am EST! Here is a sneak peek at what I know will be coming out today. There could possibly be more throughout the weekend and Monday.

I will be posting to the Facebook page when they are released. Just go to http://plunderdesign.com/grandma2glamma, hit the shop button and pick a party that has my name in it. These items will be found under the Specials tab.

Below are a few items that were released yesterday and as of right now are still available.

I just love this one for the tweens/teens. What a great stocking stuffer!

In addition to such great specials. If your order totals $30 or more (excluding tax and shipping) you can choose to add one of the items below for every $30 you spend. You would pay $10 for the Tony necklace and $5 for the Lilo earrings. This is while supplies last (of course). These have changed a couple of times this month. So don’t be surprised if you go to check out and your offer is different.

Legging Army: There is a site wide 10% discount. That will apply all weekend. Who doesn’t  love or need leggings?

Rodan+Fields: You can’t get much better than this deal. Today only, make a purchase as a Preferred Customer (PC) and you pay what I pay!!! That means any product OR Any Business Kit if you decide to become a consultant. Just go to http://jearlingbencivenni.myrandf.comTo become a PC just scroll down to the Subscribe and Save option. If you are interested in the business then message me and we will hop on the phone and chat.

Happy Shopping!

It’s Time To Get Serious Again

Happy Monday!

Did you have a good weekend?

I hope you had a chance to have some fun or just relax and recharge for the new week.

For the most part we made it a lazy weekend. So lazy, in fact, I had pajamas on by 6pm Saturday, was in bed by 7:30, and asleep at 8:30! I actually slept better and longer than I had in a very long time! According to Fitbit anyway!

I did get some things accomplished first though.

I made it to the #saturday7amsocialclub and then off to my session with Jeff. Just as I walked into the gym I received a text message from Jeff.

It went like this:

Do you know how easy it would have been to turn around and go back out that door? I have to admit I was a bit torn. A gift? Maybe. An easy way out? Oh Yeah, You bet! But, it had already been 2 1/2 weeks since our last session I could not afford to keep that pattern up. I NEEDED a good workout! I had also made the decision that I was getting my head back in the game and it was not the time to let a snag in the day derail that! I had a week of “carb-loading”, but I really used it as a week to just eat. Then last week was an eat what I felt like week. It was as if I really couldn’t get “full”. Were the races the weekend before still in my head? I don’t know, but I do know keeping it up is not an option; unless I want to go backwards. And I seem to have done enough of that! So I got busy.

Part way through the work out, I got a new message.

By the time Jeff arrived I was 3 into the 5×5 at 145, so we finished that up and then Jeff stretched me out for about 20 minutes. I didn’t do all on the list he sent me. I was actually shaky from what I had done. Was it because it had been so long since a good work out? Was it because this was the first time I had ever done a workout like this on my own? Had he not come in I would have continued on with the list, though. His session after me canceled so he came all the way over for just that short time.

Let me just tell you I was feeling that workout yesterday morning. Well, really later Saturday evening 😳.

“The Man” and I got all our shopping and running around done Saturday. Sunday was going to be a wash out according to the weather report so we decided to get it over with. “The Man” was excited we had to go to his favorite store “Sams”. After all we had to pick up Halloween candy for the trick or treaters….$50 later for just candy! Is that overkill? Probably this year, since Halloween is in the middle of the week. Our neighborhood is usually a hot bed of activity, but it has dwindled down the last couple of years. I have been giving kids a couple of pieces of candy each and still have plenty left over; add to that all the candy Noah and Miss Quinn will bring home and we are going to be a candy coma! I hope we have a lot of kids this year otherwise I will be put to the test! After all, I am a chocoholic😳!

Do you have a lot of kids on Halloween? I love seeing the little kids dressed up and having fun.

Do you have strategies for keeping the candy away, or is not a problem for you? If you are able to forget the candy is there, what is your secret? I try to buy candy I don’t like. If I don’t care for it, it’s much easier to “let it go”! For the really littles ones I try to get animal cookies or lollipops. I try to make sure there is something just for them.

October has been such a busy month! With the Rodan+Fields new product launch of: The Intensive Hydration Serum (November will see the Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex), YTT, the races and now Halloween. Now we have the holidays upon us. I’d like to say good riddance to the craziness, but I think the crazy days are going to ramp up fast!

If you want to up your skin care game for the holidays now is the time! For the remainder of October (today and tomorrow) any PC order (current or new PC) will go into a drawing for the Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex! You can place your order at: http://jearlingbencivenni.myrandf.com. This has been an “eye changer” for me this month. My eyes had started looking pretty tired….email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com with any questions you may have.

I’m starting a new 21 day meditation series with Oprah and Deepak from the Chopra Center. This is a free series and you can find it here, you can also download an app for that. I have done some of these meditations before and find them very relaxing. With the holidays coming, I imagine we could all use some relaxation! Won’t you join me for this series?

Yoga Teacher Training-Week 2

Whew, its Monday! What a busy weekend! I needed this new week to start to rest up from the weekend! It’s raining here today for the first time in a month. That should make for a slow, lazy day and boy do I need it after this weekend!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun and exciting?

This was my Yoga Teacher Training-YTT AND the Rodan+Fields convention and new product launch weekend. On top of that there was a birthday party for Lessa and Miss Quinn on Sunday (which I had to miss). Since Lessa’s birthday was really on the 2nd, we had cupcakes and such then. Miss Quinn’s birthday is actually Friday the 13th and we will have a little home celebration then too.

Lessa and Miss Quinn

How many ways can you say crazy busy?

YTT

I was sooooo worried going into YTT weekend. I felt like I was way behind with my homework and unprepared. Most of last week I was waffling back and forth between “I can do this” to “I can’t do this”, “what have I done”? I had plenty of those “I’m going to flunk out of YTT” thoughts off and on much of the week. Who flunks out of yoga teacher training? Oh I was quite a mess! I may have been worried for nothing.

When I got to class Friday night, I discovered I was not the only one with those thoughts and I was not the only one who was a bit behind. Some were much farther behind than I was. Misery loves company?

When I left class Friday night I felt much better and by the end of last night I was back to thinking “I can do this”. I came home and just “let it go”. I haven’t even looked at my books or let myself think about the mountain of homework this next month will entail. It makes last months look like nothing, and I still need to finish the few things I didn’t get done. Out of sight, out of mind? Not really, but I am taking today to process the weekend before I dive back into it. There is just sooooo much information packed into the weekend that you (or at least I) definitely need a day to assimilate before tackling the next step.

I planned to run yesterday (or at least walk) during our lunch break, but that didn’t happen. Our last lesson/practice before lunch was a meditation practice. When we were finished our instructor suggested we go out to lunch and notice how things were in the world. I had brought my lunch and am car pooling, so going off was not an easy option for me. Instead I took my lunch and went to sit outside. I was in such a peaceful, zen/meditative state that running or walking was not something I could even consider. I did not want to break that calm feeling and I knew such an activity would alter that.

Many ladies came back and said they noticed sounds being more amplified and the world seemed to be moving faster. I had the opposite experience and so did a couple of others. As I sat outside, the cars on the road seemed to be moving in slow motion and the sounds were very hushed. That is the most or deepest I have ever gone into a meditation. It was a new and interesting experience.

Have you ever had such an experience? Please share.

Rodan+Fields Convention/Product Launch

I couldn’t attend the convention in Vegas or go with the few members of my team that went to Charleston, SC for a virtual event, because I was already obligated to YTT. Or maybe I should say I could have gone, but I would have had to make up the YTT weekend at a cost of $60 per hour and each training is approx 20 hours long 😳. I could not justify that.

I chose the virtual option for Rodan+Fields so that I could attend and  watch from home and have immediate access to purchase the new products! Thursday night and Friday I was busy watching the convention via direct feed. Of course I missed all the weekend studies and activities, due to YTT, but I can go back and view them, multiple times! I was glad Friday was the day our new products were launched! I was able to see and order them right away! I am so excited for these three NEW products!

The new products; Intensive Renewing Serum with RetinAl, a new AMP MD micro exfoliating Roller, and the Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex

I ordered as soon as they were up (by being online I was able to see exactly when they were put up and had ordered mine before they told everyone they were ready to order, lol) and right now it looks as though I will have them by Thursday (I hope they make it here sooner)! I think I heard that the Vegas attendees were able to get theirs on the spot (that’s the only thing that would have been better). I will certainly let you know when they arrive!

If launching THREE NEW products wasn’t enough, there was also a new program announced for NEW consultants. I’m still trying to take it all in and learn the ins and outs!

Now I know you may be saying, “I can’t join Rodan+Fields, I know nothing” about skincare. Well neither did I, and that was a concern. What I did know was that I needed to up my skincare game. In fact, I don’t know any consultants who knew anything about skincare, before they started, but you don’t need to.

Why?

Drs. Rodan+Fields are Stanford trained and practicing dermatologists in California. They are so sought after, they have a two year waiting list for appointments. But they have made it easy for us to help our customers by taking away the guess work.

How?

By giving us the “Solutions Tool“.

https://jearlingbencivenni.myrandf.com/Pages/OurProducts/GetAdvice/SolutionsTool

What is that?

It is an online tool that will help you and your customers figure out what products and regimen will work best for you or them. You will also have access to a wealth of product information and there is a nurse is available to call on if you have any questions.

You may be saying “I’m a man”, I can’t join Rodan+Fields. Sure you can! We have several HIGHLY successful male consultants as well as male customers. They do sell skincare, but mainly work their businesses based on the business opportunity with the company. If you are looking for a business investment, don’t think twice. This is a sound business model, that has seen tremendous growth, and is only going to continue to grow.

Some people join Rodan+Fields as a consultant only for the product discount and are quite happy with that. Others join for the discount and soon decide they want to work the business and start moving up the ladder. Then there are those who see the tremendous business opportunity from the start and join with the intention of growing a successful business. If you want to join me and work this as a business, starting now, this new program will “reward” you for getting your business up and moving. The incentives are phenomenal and you will have access to some great training, information, and a wonderful support system. You will never feel like you are in it alone or “hung out to dry”.

There are several ways or levels to sign up and become a consultant. Starting now, if you join Rodan+Fields  with a Business Building Kit you will automatically receive the NEW products in it AND be enrolled in the NEW program. If you are interested in joining me or learning more, message or email me at grandma2glamma@gmail.com for details.

The Intensive Renewing Serum with the new AMP MD roller will be available for customers to order beginning October 18th and the Bright Eye Complex will be available for you to order beginning November 2nd. Why not give yourself the gift of younger looking skin for the holidays?

It was an amazing weekend but there’s no way to fully describe the intensity. I can say I’m glad to be back to a normal schedule, lol!

Random Musings

Please bear with me today as this post is likely to be all over the place; as I’m combining a couple of days into one.

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you this week got off to a sad start. After a nice weekend, waking up Monday to the news of what happened in Las Vegas just put a damper on the day. Instead of finishing my post I just went inside. I took time to reflect and pray for all involved. It has taken until now for me to get back in the game, and while I still can’t wrap my head around such senseless acts, we must go on.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun and exciting? Please share. We could all use some happiness.

Fall finally arrived in the Mid-Atlantic Saturday, for a couple of days. The day was crisp and you just wanted to cozy up. I made it the #saturday7amsocialclub AKA WW and to my session with Jeff. I had a good workout and set a new squat PR. We worked up to 135 which I squatted a total of 11 times 2 sets of 3, then a final set of 5! Jeff didn’t fuss, so they must have been ok. Squats scare me sometimes, especially when we add weight. I’m so afraid I’m going to go down and not get up, lol. I think that is what stops me from going as far as I need to sometimes. I would be happy if I could only deadlift…really I would, but Jeff says it doesn’t work that way….however, I could only bench press. That’s no fun. Since I am only working with Jeff once a week for the next few weeks, he has altered my schedule yet again. This week we did squats and arms. The next time we will bench press and deadlift.

Sunday morning dawned even cooler than Saturday, which was great for my run. It was my last really long run before the races (which are now officially less than three weeks away)😳. Depending on which GPS is accurate (none) I managed 14.5-16.1 miles. I ran 9 of those at what I hope will be race pace, then slowed down some and then walked the last few. I would have gone for more, but I was back near my house and nature was calling very loudly. Once I went in the house and crawled up those stairs I was not going back out. It is what it is. I will do my best to finish, even if I’m the last person crossing the line, on the sidewalk.

I also had to think about getting ready to go to Miss Mia’s birthday party! That gave me just the excuse I needed to stay home, oh shucks, lol! It turned out to be a beautiful day for the party. The adults and kids had a good time.

Now I just need to get myself ready for this upcoming weekend and my second Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) class. I feel way behind on where I need to be there too. Altering my schedule with Jeff has allowed me time to work on my practice but not as much as I need. The homework is extensive and it’s going to get even harder. Yesterday as I was studying I had one of those “what was I thinking” moments and in the next moment had a bit of an epiphany. I think I have made this harder than it is/was. I’m going with it and finishing up what I need to do this week. I think I’ve avoided some of it because I know it’s supposed to make you go inside. It’s a lesson in self-study. I was semi-prepared for it, but, let me tell you that is hard and eye-opening. It is certainly a learning experience.

The rest of this week and through the weekend will be busy. Not only will I be at YTT, it is also the Rodan+Fields annual convention! I am very excited for this. Of course, I won’t be at the actual live convention (which is being held in Las Vegas) but I have signed up to attend virtually. There will be our new product launch and I will be able to order it Friday and start sharing it with you (there are actually rumors of more than one new product)! Since I will be in YTT, I will miss much of the weekend events, but I will be able to go back and replay what I miss! I’m very excited to share in this experience. Last year the new product was Lash Boost! That was/is a phenomenal product!!! I think my lashes now have lashes! Tonight is also our monthly business opportunity FREE ZOOM call. If you are thinking of joining me in business with Rodan+Fields; be on the call tonight at 9pm EST. The call is FREE, the opportunity is like no other, and everyone on the call is pretty spectacular too! All you need to do is download the app or search ZOOM on your computer then dial in 736 578 7052 there is no pressure, just information on R+F and the opportunity. If you have questions you can ask. Simple Pleasure Thursday 9/28

It’s Thursday and that means It’s time for our next installment of Simple/Guilty Pleasure Thursday.

Do you have a simple or guilty pleasure to share with us this week?

If you’ve read the blog this week, can you guess mine? I’m calling mine a guilty pleasure this week, although it could be both.

Our little weekend trip to the Jersey Shore (simple pleasure) resulted in a trip to White Castle for hamburgers (guilty pleasure). Guilty, because I over do it on them. But I do plan for it too.

Let’s be honest here. That’s probably our main reason for going, to the Jersey Shore, lol!

Growing up in the south we had Krystal’s. They are basically the same kind of burger. The biggest difference between them is White Castle puts ketchup on theirs where Krystal puts mustard. I prefer to eat them straight off the grill with just the onions they are cooked with. Sadly (but probably for the best) neither one is very close to us. White Castle in NJ is roughly a three hour drive versus Krystal at around ten hours (right now the closest one I know of is in Georgia) not doable for a quick trip.

I do enjoy those little burgers. When they are steamed just right, it’s like a little bit of heaven. I think “The Man” likes White Castle better because they have crinkle cut fries! I could careless about the fries, I just go for the burgers. “The Man’s” uncle calls them belly busters, lol. They can be just bit gaseous! Yes, probably TMI….

We usually stop on the way home and get a “crave case” (that’s a box of 30) to bring back with us. This time we did not. That took a bit of will power.

I will just have to savor the moment until the next time.

Can you believe it’s already the end of the month? I have some new specials to share and some current ones that are going away.

First for the new:

A couple of you have expressed an interest in joining me in my Plunder business. From now through the end of September (which is only a couple of days away, how did that happen?) when you sign up as a Plunder Stylist  you will receive 10 extra piece of jewelry in your kit! So instead of the usual 9 you will receive 19 pieces of Plunder jewelry plus your sales tools! To sign up go to my website http://www.punderdesign.com/grandma2glamma and click on Plunder Opportunity.

If you have been on the fence now is a good time to get off! And if nothing else you could have a lot of your holiday shopping done!

And now for the old:

Remember that awesome Rodan+Fields Regimen/Hydration bundle special with the mini regimen?

It ends tonight. That mini-regimen is great for travel and is TSA approved. If you don’t travel, it’s an extra two weeks of product FREE!

If you don’t need a full regimen, but would like to try a product, I will be placing my last bulk order for September tomorrow (Friday) night at 6pm EST.

Message or email at grandma2glamma@gmail.com with your product choice and I will order it for you at PC pricing (that’s 10% off and free shipping) and get it to you!

Not sure what regimen or product is right for you? Take the solutions tool and find out. Be sure to enter your email, so I will know you tried the tool, and I will send you a micro-dermabrasion paste packet, just for trying it out.

Something Old/Something New

What a week it has been weather wise. Summer is still hanging on here with both hands and it is HOT!

Has fall made it to your neck of the woods yet?

Saturday, before we left for our little getaway, that I told you about yesterday, I headed off to my usual #saturday7amsocialclub AKA Weight Watchers meeting and my session with, Jeff, my trainer. Last week I decided, after talking it over with Jeff, to cut my workouts back to once a week until after the races (which are less than four weeks away now)! Twice a week with the added yoga and the running has been way too much. I felt I was burning out fast. I think once the races are done and I can switch my long run with my extra yoga practice I can get back to a regular schedule.

Of course that means we will be hitting everything on the one day we do meet. Saturday, to finish up he had me doing weighted planks.

Have you done weighted planks yet? What was your experience like?

I have done weighted planks before, and shared that with you, but only with one weight and the most was 45lbs. Saturday Jeff decided to increase weight in increments. I started at 35lbs for 30 seconds, then 60lbs for 30 seconds, then on to 70lbs for thirty seconds! As many of you know 70lbs is the amount of weight I lost. I honestly have no idea how I walked around with that much extra weight on my body! Don’t tell Jeff, but I’m sure I had at least another 15-30 seconds in me at that weight.

Before we left for our trip “The Man” said “you can run on the beach in the morning”. Wasn’t that nice of him? lol. I told him I was already one step ahead of him and had my running clothes packed. I was so ambitious I even put a yoga mat in the car! But I realized after we got there I left my head phones at home. My plan was to do one or the other. I was hoping to do both, but it didn’t happen.

I got up Sunday morning to run, and just as I was getting ready to head out the door, “The Man” woke up ready to go get coffee. I had talked myself into being ok without it, but tagged along. We got back and I headed for the run. By then traffic had started picking up so I didn’t go very far. The route that I knew and planned to run was pretty busy. I wasn’t very sure about going off the main roads, since I’m not that familiar with the neighborhoods so I ran out two miles out then back. I’m sure not having my headphones didn’t help either. Later we went down to the beach and I ran another mile barefoot in the sand (that counts for extra right?). I have never run on the beach or barefoot (for the sake of running) before. It was quite a different experience, one I should repeat. I ran a total of five miles in all. I think it was supposed to be my 18-20 mile week, though….yikes! This coming Sunday I have got to log as many miles as possible. I think the weather is supposed to be fall-ish, so hopefully that will make it easier to get some miles in. The next weekend will be Yoga Teacher Training and I will likely not get a run in and if I do it will be short.

That will also be the Rodan+Fields convention weekend in Vegas! I won’t be attending that live, but I have signed up for the virtual convention. I am so excited! There is going to be a new product(s) launch that I will be able to order right away!! We don’t know what it is yet, but the buzz is BIG and I can’t wait to share that with y’all! Last year at convention is when Lash Boost was introduced and you know how I love that!!

She Believed She Could

Here we are again. We’ve made it back to Monday! Another new week, with new, endless possibilities.

Do you dread Monday’s or do you view it as a week of new possibilities?

Monday certainly gets a bad rap from most everyone. I am guilty of being a Monday basher, myself. When I was working I had come to dread Mondays and every other day I had to go to work. I came to realize that job was sucking the life out of me. I knew this long before I left it, but I was hesitant to leave it.

Why?

Fear.

Mainly fear of losing an income. That’s never easy to do. It wasn’t a large income, but more than we would have had without it. You get used to having a certain income, maybe having a bit more disposable income, and eliminating it is scary; even when YOU make the decision to do so. What if this breaks, what if this happens, what if?

It was six years ago September 1st that I walked out that door for the last time. It was scary, from the day I made the decision, until the day I walked out the door. It was one of the best things I could have done for my peace of mind, my well-being, and the well-being of my family. But I was afraid.

On the surface it seemed my job was perfect. It was about mile from my house, I only worked three and a half days a week. I met some great people, some of whom I still have a little contact with. “The Man” thinks if I had not left when I did to take care of Noah I would still be there. He really doesn’t know how wrong he is. He thought the job was perfect.

Patients of the doctor I worked for thought it was the perfect place to work, that the doctor must be a wonderful boss. They weren’t behind the scenes. They didn’t know how things really were. My mental and physical health was suffering from it. It was far from perfect.

I’m so glad when the opportunity arose to leave I took it. I can’t say everyday since has been a bed of roses, but it was the right decision. I stepped on blind faith that it would work and it has.

Fear can hold us back from so many things. I have had some fear racked moments a few times since leaving that job; for different reasons.

When I set out to lose weight; could I do it…again? When I started practicing yoga; could I do it? The “I’m not flexible, I’m not athletic, I’m uncoordinated” thoughts ran through my mind. But I decided to try; it was a great decision. Then I decided to run a half marathon, could I do it? I wasn’t a runner, I had never run unless forced to. And I did it. Then on to a marathon, then five half marathons in five weekends.

This year began with me deciding to start the blog; would anyone read it? Then starting my businesses; will anyone buy what I sell? Will anyone want to join my team? If that wasn’t enough, a chance to become a yoga teacher presented itself. Again fear; could I do it? Could I afford to do it? Could I work it around the schedule with the kids and family time? I have set out to run a half and a full marathon. The half on Saturday and the full on Sunday; back to back.

All of these have come or come with an element of fear. But I pushed that fear aside and tried anyway. So far I have been successful. Some of these haven’t been completed yet, but I am moving towards them.

Fear? You bet! Can I do it?

I CAN!

Through it all my one mantra has been “She believed she could, so she did”! I have also added “I CAN and I WILL…watch me”.

Do you let fear hold you back? Don’t. Take charge of your life and destiny. If you dream it, you can achieve it. It doesn’t matter your age. That doesn’t mean you need to set out to achieve the same goals I have. Just reach for what you want. I am here to support and encourage you along the way. I still have fear. I am a work in progress, but I’m not allowing it to hold me back.

Take a moment and share your fears, goals, thoughts with us. What would you like to accomplish? What fear is holding you back?

Neutrals With A Pop of Color

TGIF! We have made it to the weekend! We have nothing planned around here, at the moment, but that is always subject to change. It is “The Mans” Saturday to work so that will likely limit what we decide to do. I imagine we will stay fairly close to home after traveling last weekend. Maybe I can plan that “me” weekend I told you about last week! Or maybe I already have. My yoga teacher training starts in three weeks. YIKES! For one weekend a month for the next nine months I will be doing nothing but something for me. Apparently I should expect it to be quite intense and reentry into regular life may be challenging. It’s so exciting and scary! Do y’all have anything exciting planned? Please share.

I have already told you a bit about our trip to the outlets last weekend. Our school shopping was a success. We were not quite sure how the day would pan out as the weather was subject (according to the powers that be) to be pretty iffy. Thunderstorms were called for at home and there. It actually turned out to be a beautiful day after a few early morning showers; until we were about halfway home. Then the bottom fell out for quite a ways!

I had planned on getting some pictures for the blog and managed a few, but like I told you earlier I was not happy with them. We didn’t take the camera because we didn’t want to be “bothered” with it. I have the iPhone7 and the camera is supposed to be the best thing ever. Maybe more practice is needed.

We did find a great old covered bridge to use for the pictures. It is still used by Amish for taking buggy tours over.

Even though rain/storms were called for the temperature was still supposed to be in the 80s, I wanted to be cool and comfortable, but still look stylish and put together.

I decided on a tank top and maxi skirt.

This tank is the SIMPLE SCOOP NECK TANK in gray from Covered Perfectly. It wears beautifully, the straps are wide enough that you don’t have to worry about your other straps showing, and like other Covered Perfectly tops it just skims and flows over your body. The MicroModal fabric is the best. We took these photos on the way home and after traveling and shopping all day. It wasn’t wrinkled and stayed cool, even in the heat and humidity. I am wearing a small. Did you know Covered Perfectly is made right here in the USA? I paired it with a maxi skirt from Legging Army, this pattern is called Picture Perfect. I haven’t mentioned the Legging Army maxis before, because as fast as they were launched they were selling out. I couldn’t write fast enough, lol! This is the first one I’ve gotten. There are a variety of patterns. I will be getting more. Several of the maxi styles are on sale (this one included) along with shorts, and athletic wear; while they last.

Remember as a Grandma to Glamma blog reader you get 20% OFF on up to two items when you shop at Covered Perfectly! Use the discount code GG20 when you check out at Covered Perfectly. There are several styles to choose from, and the discount will apply on up to two items. Or you may take advantage of the “Buy 2 get your 3rd FREE” special. This special applies to any combination of items storewide, just add 3 items to your cart and the discount will be applied
automatically. Only one of the discounts will work. Start shopping!

I wore the August Plunder Posse for a pop of color against the neutral pallet of the gray. Even though there are several colors in the skirt they are all neutrals. The burgundy of the necklace is a perfect color with gray. At least in my opinion. It doesn’t hurt that it’s my “signature” color. The discs in the necklace and earrings work back to the circle patterns in the skirt. It’s was almost as if they were made for each other! The bracelets are the magnetic bling bracelets that I’ve showed you before. I wore Tina, which is a pinky/purple color. It was one of the Mother’s Day specials and is no longer available. The black one is called Ezra and the other one is Flynn which has iridescent stones.

If you aren’t familiar with the Plunder Posse it is a jewelry subscription, much like Ipsy, Birch Box, Graze, etc; where for $25 per month including tax and shipping you receive 1-3 pieces of Plunder Jewelry that is not in the catalog. Now is a great time to sign up because it’s the middle of the month. That allows you to see in advance what that months selection is and if you don’t like it you can cancel and sign back up the next month or even get it and give as a gift. Think Secret Sisters, Secret Santa’s, and Teachers gifts! You could have the perfect unique gift for someone, that doesn’t break the bank.

My daughter, Amanda, was doing the picture taking, and decided I should climb up on a ledge….now y’all know I’m short, right? So it was quite a feat for me to get up there. It may not look too high from the inside, but when you aren’t very tall…..and in a skirt…..it was comical!

Have I told you I have a fear of heights too?

Can you believe she wanted me to stand on the narrow part of the ledge, in front of the red part of the bridge?

I did not. It wasn’t much bigger than my feet, and I have small feet. That was a long way down. I may be half crazy, but not totally, lol.

Some details inside the bridge
